I've seen SKYWATCH FRIDAY everywhere but never participated since I feel I take really crappy sky pictures.
Until this one. I like this one LOL
This was taken late Saturday afternoon. I was looking across Raritan Bay and watching the clouds gather and merge and break apart.
I've learned that the waters of Raritan Bay are considered to be part Monmouth County, NJ and part Queens County, NY. As a Brooklyn girl now living in NJ I think that's cool.
Welcome to Sky Watch. You have made an impression, this is an amazing photo. I love your cloud coverage. Happy SWF.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a classic 'Trade Winds' sky - quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to pack.
I have an odd fixation about clouds. I am fascinated by them. Nice Picture. Cheers Di!!
ReplyDeletevery nice clouds....Cheers also.
ReplyDeleteReally good image. I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteWow. The clouds look edible. Is that an odd thing to say? Well they do.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and serene. I love all the blue.
ReplyDeletesuzanne - thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteaileni - I'm going to look up Trade Winds sky - actually I'm going to check out more about clouds - I used to know a lot in high school but that was 100 years ago.
matt-man - me too! I love how they change shape.
thank you genny!
jood - thanks so much, it took me a bit to think it was good enough to post. such ridiculous issues lol
knight - not odd at all and yet one more of our strange links - my son and I would watch clouds from the apt. building roof and he always compared them to food :)
fermicat - thanks! it was such a lovely day!
That's a very pretty shot for your SWF debut! (And I don't care what Jay Leno says, NJ rocks!)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Sky Watch! You picked a beautiful picture to start with. I do love clouds! as you can tell be the fact that I keep putting up pictures of them. Took more today, as a matter of fact.
ReplyDeletePretty neat about Raritan Bay being in two states. - Like the Statue of Liberty being claimed by both.
Great picture. Those clouds look so low in the sky. Like maybe if you jumped high enough you could grab one and pull it down.
ReplyDeleteyour photos are always good ... interesting and involving ... and I am glad you joined Sky Watch!
ReplyDelete:-Daryl
Excellent Dianne... So as a Brooklyn girl, do you feel you grew up on Long Island?

My family in Queens thinks they live on LI. Brooklyn thinks it is a city unto itself - and some times I think that's right :)

ReplyDeleteDianne, your photo for your first SW is really pretty. The cobalt blue sky with the softest pink clouds and just a hint of them reflected in the water. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteSky photo? Can I submit a picture of a Sky vodka bottle?
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!

Gorgeous pic! I love sunny days with the big puffy clouds!
ReplyDeleteFor your first SWF that certainly is a nice photo. Well done.
ReplyDeleteA sweeping panorama of a salt-water bay makes for the perfect sky watch. Even Jamaica Bay and Lower NY Harbor will do. Nice!

I love clouds just hanging in the sky like that! It's incredible how they form and just kinda' hang there. They often look like they are painted way up high against the blue background!
ReplyDeleteAnd, over water is even prettier!
This is so very wonderful. I think it's possible that you caught this because you needed it. So welcome to SWF and I hope I see many more from you. You're a very busy blogger!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on joining in Sky Watch, it is a lovely photo too, I am always jealous of folks who have lots of clouds as they add lots of texture and depth to a photo. Not sure that there are quite 4 million yet, but give it another week or two, we might get there yet.
ReplyDeleteThe concept is simple enough take a nice photo of your horizon to share with others, but I am finding that the whole process of scanning the sky looking for beauty or at least interesting, has added a different perspective to my week.
Good luck and hope to see more skies with you soon. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog.
That is one great photo unfortunately eclipsed by your tales of woe and remedies there of.
ReplyDeleteLoved your ramble and hope I find you much better next week.
Great sky.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a wonderful sky shot. The clouds and water are so beautiful and the light is contemplative, at least for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time believing you take crappy sky pictures. This one is fantastic. Welcome to SWF!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog. I'm really happy you did because it led me to yours. Welcome to Sky Watch. Your photo reminds me of a painting we used to see at the Chicago Institute of Art. Your photo is gorgeous!
