Project Blue: Take Three - More at the Fair

I had a really early conference call that lasted way too long cause corporate types love to hear themselves talk so I'm going to share another older photo for today's blue.

I can't remember what this ride is called but it basically takes you up in the sky, you hover, drop slow, back up, hover, drop faster. It was really popular! There was always a line.

It was also located in a shaded area near the beer so parents loved it. Give the kids a roll of tickets, grab a beer and sit under the tree. The kids would go on a dozen times before they asked for anything.

My favorite part of the photo is the feet. The blue of the sky is too light to me and the underside of the ride is too dark. But I love the feet.

Go on over to Anna’s place to see more Project Blue.

A great shot, but not a ride for this faint of heart one.

I always love seeing those feet kicking on a ride like that. :)

I love it! It's very interesting and you just wonder what each and every person is thinking or seeing at that moment.

Way cool photo! I love the feet too... kind of like a giant multi-legged creature in the sky. Very cool.

I do love the feet. It makes me chuckle. It also makes my stomach turn a bit when I remember the way it jolted around on that ride.

the way those feet kick out nervously or excitedly or i'm-gonna-throw-uply...

i'm always the one on the ground. feet planted.

love the scooter pic down below, too. think that blue is a stock carnie color? i like it.

I used to love rides when I was a kid. Now, they just make me pee. LOL

Hmmm. Interesting looking ride. I've never seen one like that before though and, considering how infrequently I wander out into the public, especially in the realm of rides, amusement parks, etc., it's highly doubtful I ever will see one like this too.

Excellent choice Dianne. Love those feet.

Great shot....love the feeties!

That' looks like a bigger version of the "Free Fall". There's one of them at Great Adventure but only three people sit in the car and then it drops.

Peace

Hi Dianne! Great photo and what brave souls they are. I am afraid of heights and wouldn't go on that ride, but I would gladly join the grown-ups for a beer. Lisa

beverly - I'm with you! I didn't go on either.

rebecca - every now and then a shoe would come falling down.

karen - most of the kids told me they loved being able to see the tops of all the trees :)

raven - we were calling it the 'footy beast' and other silly monster names. great minds ...

knight - I know what you mean. I'm not good at lurching and dropping.

karey - that color is absolutely carnie blue. I love "throw-uply" :)

thanks jenty :)

leighann - your ta-tas would leave you all bruised!! it drops really fast. how about we just sit and drink instead? ;)

LOL tammy - I hear that too!

jeni - my town has a million fairs every year!! I can hardly wait for the firemen's fair. yummy and I don't mean the BBQ ;)

thanks CG - wouldn't it be cool to stage shots like these with different types and colors of shoes. Or the entire wedding party!!

Odat - thanks, glad you like the shot. I haven't been to Great Adventure in a long time. Not much of a ride person. I do enjoy the little local fairs - mostly to take photos and see neighbors.

lisa - those of us who were 'grounded' as one of the kids put it were having a great time in the shade with our beverages.

Oh I also love the feet in the shot!

I love those kind of rides. Your guts are sixty feet in the air while the rest of your body is back on earth.

Great shot! Not sure I would be on it though.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

No way anyone would convince me to get on that thing! I don't do those kinds of rides at all.

Great feet shot and honestly, I felt my stomach lurch just seeing the picture of that ride, lol! My husband LOVES those drop rides, but I am petrified!

I do remember riding the one at Great Adventure in NJ several times to impress an old boyfriend. I don't think he was very impressed to have the circulation to his hand cut off and his hearing affected. :) I swore off of those rides after that!

there is no way i would go on it, but looks like fun.

Neat photo with the angle.

Fun shot! First thing I thought was "I love the feet", too funny.
I used to work with those corporate dudes, I called 'em FBIS (pronounced fi-bees) for Fat Boys in Suits...and boy-howdy do they love to listen to themselves talk...sheesh.

I don't know, Dianne. I still prefer wooden roller coasters to modern technology! :D Something sentimental about a good old coaster!

The sign at the entrance to the ride said "kiss your ass good bye now, your neck won't reach later."

When I hear the word 'blue' my mind always conjures up Howlin' Wolf, Mississippi John Hurt, the original Fleetwood Mac, and dozens of other blues performers.

I wonder if that ride falls fast enough to remove the stink of 20 odd pair of feet eh?

Peace

I love this picture! I don't know about that ride though. LOL

diane m - the feet appear to be the winning element in that shot :)

jeff b - you're such a 'guy' :)
all the guys were going on, until they realized the beer was there ;)

mike - I didn't go on that's for sure. thanks for coming by here too

tt - sometimes, most times, you kill me! ;)

Me neither Jay!!

snoopmurph - the things we'll do for a guy. It's cool that Tom is into them, that way he can take the boys and you can take pictures.

lilli and nevada - it was fun to watch the kids, that was enough for me.

lv2 - thanks! the angle was a total accident, I was trying not to get dizzy :)

shelly - FBIS!! I love it! would you believe they asked for a second call last night and another one today. We've been talking so long no one knows what the hell we're talking about.

Michael - I have to dig up all my photos of the Cyclone at Coney Island for you! :)

mark - it's mostly kiddie feet so they don't smell so bad! plus the smell of BBQ was everywhere.

sandpiper - it really was fun - to watch! LOL

I've been on a similar ride in Blackpool, I think that was the time my stomach ended up in my mouth! :(

I used to ride stuff like this but not so much anymore.

What a great angle, I love the feet too! I wonder how many shoes come flying off...

I'm more of a big-coaster junkie, the kind that make you laugh so hard you're drooling. They have that photo-thing so when you get off the ride, you can see yourself looking completely mental.

Ha. Oh the people that love to hear their own voices. Cheers Di!!

Yes, corporate-types love to hear themselves talk. I highly recommend blogging during conference calls -- much more fun and better use of your time. The corporate-types only want to hear from you an ego-stroking, reconfirming, "ahhh, yeah, that's a great idea" interjected into their boring monologue every so often.

As far as the photo goes, at least nothing spattered down from above upon the camera lens for this photo;)

Dianne said...

akelamalu - I know the feeling! I don't really even like elevators :)

doc - me too! sucks getting older eh?

jo - at least 1 or 2 shoes come flying off each ride. they even had a box where you could put the rescued shoes for their owners to find them.

matt-man - I wish they'd just talk to themseleves ;)

quiet rage - the scene was blessedly splatter free :)

I like the feet too. And the yellow contrast of the pole. And the trees on the right. It's just a cool photo.

Dianne said...

newt - thanks! I like the yellow too, and the trees. made me happy that you called it a cool photo - appreciate that :)

Bobkat said...

I haven't seen one of these on project blue yet! :) I love the feet too. They're like a frill around the edge of the platform. Hey - it is a frill ride after all! LOL!

Dianne said...

bobkat - I did enjoy the originality of this shot, thanks!! and frill ride should be it's name :)
