Creative Photography: If I Painted

If I could paint abstract watercolors would be my thing. All soft colors and melting lines.

Mia was very interested in the camera and kept coming closer and closer while I shot away. I didn't like the results especially her eyes. While trying to salvage one good close-up I started to play around with what a painting (If I Painted) of Mia might look like.

Please visit CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY and check out all the other entries. Beautiful photographs are good for your heart and soul.

I love it. Even blurred, that eye has great expression in it. I like the colors too.

It sure looks like a painting to me ;o) Cool idea, Di!

raven - it is her purple towel of course! heaven forbid the purple towel go missing lol
she was very content and calm and with no flash and a dim room her eyes look best.

ivanhoe - thanks! playing piano and painting have always been two things I tried and just clearly had no skill for :)

Hey Dianne!

Great Shot! I love how you used your effects to get that painted look. It sure did work. Love the kitty *of course*, and the colors also. Very nice entry! :-)

thanks shelly - it was a total accident lol

OK...can I just tell you how much I LOVE this photograph!!!!

It DOES look like a painting.

Hey...I'm with you, Dianne.

Watercolor for me, is my favorite form of art. There's something about the melting lines that I enjoy looking at. Almost like a pastel. I've tried it a few times, and discovered how challenging it is (getting the right water and paint consistancy). It definately takes practice.

Thanks for sharing this photo, Dianne.

I really enjoy looking at your work!

This one is great. I love some of the effects we get "by accident". Better than what we intended. I can see you doing a painting like this.

Very pretty photo, Dianne. I agree with the others that it looks like a watercolor.

Good luck in Roger's contest!

I love looking at everyone's entries.

ron - my favorite part of watercolors is the texture of the brushstrokes, almost like creating shadows. thank you so much for your enthusiasm, it always makes my day. :)

bobbie - I have very grand fantasies of being in a smock, covered in paint, somewhere in the Northwest, by the ocean - wine country probably lol
glad you like my painting by accident ;)

definitely surreal bond, thanks!!

patti - traveling around the links is my favorite part. I get so many ideas and inspirations and so much enjoyment out of all the sites I visit. and I have met such great new people - like you and ralph :)

What a cool picture!

I really like this...I have a whole series of blurry photos of my Scare D Cat (Sophie)...they are almost the only photos I have of her, so this sort of photo really touches me!

An Impressionist painting with a bit of abstract thrown in for good measure.

Mia is really inquisitive, and nothing can get in the way of a curious cat. Non-verbal communication, but you know what she wants!

The contrasts between the graym green, white, pink (nose) and lavender are stunning.

Would Siren sit still for her portrait??

Sweet! :D

Dianne said...

thanks tammy :)

kim - I'm getting more comfortable with the editing software so I'm bolder now with blurry shots, trying to find something in them I guess. I'm happy it touched you, that's very sweet of you to say :)

ralph - thank you! it was the colors and the predominant purple (her towel lol) that made me stick with this one. Mia isn't hard to photograph it's just that her eyes are so runny, even when healthy that the liquid always casts odd colors and just makes her look demonic, which she isn't.
Siren always comes out crystal clear so it never occurred to me to create a 'watercolor' of him but now I think I'll try.

cherie! ma cherie! I love, love, love when you pop up

that is great....and very creative...art is truly in the eye of the beholder....what floats one's boat may sink another....but does it really matter as long as it gives you pleasure...

I'm going to have to check out this creative photography I see you all doing. I tried to get my cat today for Project Black and all I got was an eye!
I agree with Raven - you can see the expression in that one eye!

Intriguing shot! Thanks for visiting my shot, too. :) Good luck in the contest!

roger - thanks!!

star - I appreciate that, I played around cropping for quite a bit to try and get some blend of colors. Mia's big ole white patch by her nose kept causing trouble :)

napaboaniya - thanks! I love that the colors came through.

michelle - I think she just wants to bite the camera lol - especially if the strap is dangling.

smalltown rn - one of the most wonderful things to come from all the photography projects is that I see things in so many more angles and I have a lot more confidence.

carletta - definitely check it out! your photographs are wonderful and it's fun.
Mia's eyes are a problem and it's amazing to me how much better it looks blurry than it does in a clear shot.

mark - that's priceless!! I could have named it 'View From a Mouse' - you're so clever.

lori - your shot is wonderful, made me want to try even more edit techniques. thanks lori :)

If you painted I'd buy one of your canvases!!

tt said...

That would look great blown up very large and placed on a wall in your home!!! or mine ;)

Dianne said...

odat - thanks!! I'm thinking of looking into transferring it to a small blanket or a quilt - and then give it to Mia.

cg - that's very sweet of you but I think you might want to truly re-think that LOL

tt - as I mentioned to Odat, I'm going to see how it looks larger and then make a comfy for Mia. you're a sweetie!
