Ruby Tuesday: Born on the 4th of July

I’m going to a birthday party on July 4th – here’s the invite hanging on my fridge.

There will be fireworks – well sparklers at least. And the pool is open and there’ll be BBQ and fancy drinks in the red/white/blue theme.

And a giant birthday cake made to look like a flag.

Happy Birthday USA – well sure it’s her birthday too but she’s had scores of parties and frankly, she’s a bit of a glutton for attention.

The party I’m attending is for a 10 year old born on the 4th of July. And his Grandfather – born on the 4th and several cousins – all born on the 4th.

Please visit the teach for more RED.

Have a great time at the party!

I thought my Rita might be born on the 4th. The doctor scoffed, saying she couldn't be that "late". She was born on the 13th instead. (I had 10 month babies all the time)

What a fun party that should be! Enjoy!

GREAT photo! I don't know why but it makes me feel happy which is nice as I've been feeling rather cranky and dis-spirited. Sounds like a nifty party.

That sounds like a great party! I'm going to stand on somebody's roof somewhere and watch the fireworks illuminate the dead bodies floating in the river. Happy Birthday America!
Have fun at the party Di.

napaboaniya - thank you!

leighann - wish we could party together, love ya too.

marcia - the magnets are great, they have the clip so you can hand heavier things. they were a set but all that is left is the green one, don't know where the other 2 went.

bobbie - back then they didn't have all these sensitive tests. I was told Jeffrey was due March 27th, he was born May 9th. I kept telling people I was having a baby elephant.

thanks ellen b!

raven - I'm glad it made you feel happier. love ya!

knight - ahhhhh - the 4th in NY!
I'm lucky, the party is across the street! how's that for convenient.

It is paper odat, heavy shiny card stock. it's cool the way they made the flag look.

LOL @ Knight's comment.

I think it would be so cool to have a birthday on July 4! Getting to have cake and a party and then fireworks every year would rock.

That would be really cool to have a birthday on the 4th. I do believe that the cake with coolwhip frosting, lined with strawberries and blueberries to look like a flag is my favorite.

Oh, I wanna come with you! It sounds fabulous Dianne! I am getting to celebrate this year and I am so happy. :-)

Have a great time...my daughter's birthday is today, but she was due on the 4th. Her boyfriend of 3 years has his birthday on the 4th.

Nice photo for Ruby Tuesday!

Hugs,
Kimmie

I liked that little punch of green with the magnet man!

A fabulous birthday for all family members sharing that date (including the USA at 232 years).

In our home, the mother and daughter share the same birthday December 29. Those family members sharing the 4th - a happy coincindence!

Have fun, drink lots & don't light yourself on fire! I love 4th of July celebrations...it's the only time of year when you get to blow stuff up & people don't look at you funny.

Both of my children were born on special days also. My daughter was born on Valentines Day and my son was born on New Years Day. I think it makes the birthday even more special.

carletta - thanks!! I thought magnet man took away from the card but now I'm glad I left him.

ralph - it is a happy coincidence. A Mom and Daughter sharing the same birthday is very special.

thanks tink!!

thank you junie - happy 4th to you too!

karen - thank you, glad you like the red. I think they once looked up the odds but of course no one remembers lol

jo - since the party is right across the street I think I may be drinking a bit lol

tammy - it does make the birthday more special, especially Valentines Day and New Years!! They're both such happy days :)

ann - Happy Canada Day (belated)
I enjoy visiting your blog - always something good.

karen - hope it's not stuck in your head as it is in mine. And the worst part is I don't know all the words so I keep doing the same part over and over and over ... ;)

quiet rage - I'm so glad you said that - many of us have been made to feel unpatriotic by this admin. Actually it is the supreme patriot who questions.

cg - I think we will, thanks!!

minnesotablue - Happy 4th to you too lady :)

Can't go wrong with que, fireworks and cake eh? Better to party with a four year old than to listen to w's last 4th speech.

Wow! That sounds like a fun time! Enjoy!

I got it teach lol - puns are enjoyable!! I'm so glad I let the little green man stay in the shot.

matt-man - you always make me feel good - you silver-tongued devil you!

so true Mark, so true. I would ask one of the 4 year olds to translate W for me but their vocabulary is too evolved.

thanks julie :)

Morning, dianne! I once got into trouble as a kid. All I did was light sparklers in a motel laundry room in St. Petersburg, Florida! Ooops! Almost got my family ejected. ;D

patti - Hi!! I love that you and your girl have the same birthday. and I enjoy your posts and ralphs.

happy 4th to you too geraldine!!

That sounds like such a fun party - who wouldn't want to have a July 4th birthday? SOO much better than having your birthday on Christmas and then getting the shaft by only receiving a Christmas present instead of a separate one for your birthday. :-)

Dianne said...

I agree tranny! My birthday is Dec. 7 and I always got the dual present shaft ;)

Hope you had a wonderful time at the party, Dianne!

I was going to take an aging friend to dinner then to a fireworks display (Chuck and Nicole are at a Rockies Game) but she was in too much pain to leave the house and wasn't up for company so I had a good part of the afternoon and all evening to myself. That is reason enough for me to celebrate since I'm almost never alone anymore. LOL!
