Ruby Tuesday Meets Project Black At The BBQ

We recently spent the day at a great BBQ my friends "down dah pawkway" hosted.

As always I took a million photos and a few of them suit RUBY TUESDAY and PROJECT BLACK.

My son arrives in his big red truck and is always greeted like a Super Hero making a special appearance. Little ones love him and he's great with them. He got his workout during the day by obliging every request to "pick me up in the air" - "hold me upside down" - "let me ride on your shoulders". He is a one man amusement park ride.

Later in the evening one of the little guys was upset because he was both fascinated by and terrified of the trampoline. Jeffrey immediately sprang into action by taking him by the hand and asking him if he would help him bounce.

As you can see they had a great time. They wouldn't even come down for refreshments.

Our mascot was Rosie. She finally needed to rest after patrolling the area to make sure not a single bit of food ever hit the deck.

Great post for Project Black and Ruby Tuesday, Dianne! Glad you liked my graffiti photos. The place where these artists are allowed to work IS awesome! :)

The trampoline and red edging makes both a perfect fit. Looks like fun.

Great black and red combo. I'm in love with your son and I haven't even met him. He sounds like a joyful and loving soul... but then he learned from the best.

Would you believe that I have NEVER jumped on a trampoline? Nope, not even once. I'm pretty sure my back couldn't take it now, so I guess I never will. So sad. ;-)

Dianne..thank you so much for visiting my blog and commenting on the duckling vrs turtle. I can see that we share common beliefs here. I think I need a blog to rant on so I don't do it on my nature blog. GG

I'd love to visit that place one day. I'm going to see if there any in NJ

mahala - awww thanks. he is kinda cute lol

hey tink - I love LawnGuyland! I have family there - in Merrick, in Elmont, in Jamesport, all over the island. heck of a trip from Jersey to the island. OY!

thanks me ann :)

raven - he has his moments ;)
but yes - he is a good soul, especially with children.

jay - neither have I !!!
we're such dorks aren't we? but I bet we've done all kinds of cool stuff that those trampoline jumping show-offs have never done.

michelle - a rant only blog may be a bit exhausting ;)
I think your post - it truly wasn't a rant - was smart and passionate and caring which is what Mother Nature deserves.

bobbie - he is! especially with children. thanks lady :)

Could Rosie's tongue count for Ruby Tuesday?

Looks like you had a lot of fun!!! Did you ask him to wear a black and white shirt and drink from a red
cup, or are you a very good director?
The setting was perfect!

I was born on Lawn Guyland too. Grew up in Uniondale. I also had a teenage mother, we are only 18 years apart.

Thanks for visiting me.

Nice red and black combination post. Did you plan for these ahead of time, or just choose them from what you had. In either case, you did a great job.

Happy Ruby Tuesday.

Great job combining the two projects! That trampoline looks like fun!!

Looks like a fun bbq. :D

I haven't been on a trampoline in about 34 years. My sister sat down on it, wet her pants, and the neighbors never invited us back again.

tt said...

Oh how fun it would be to get on that trampoline with you!! Of course that would have to be before we painted the town RED! Wonder what THOSE pics would look like? lol
I'm thinking your son takes after his Mom...Lucky boy!!
Great pics kiddo!

Dianne said...

pagan - he is! thanks.

mike - have a great adventure and take lots of photos :)

thanks roger - he's one of those go-to guys especially with kids.

bobbie - I was thinking of red and black with the trampoline, the red cup was a happy discovery - my son hates all the photos I take so he put the cup up at the last minute, I didn't even realize it was red til I saw the shots. And Rosie is such a sweet girl I just love taking her photo

matt-man - OY - fahgeddaboutit! my cah is such a piece of poop dat a bumpah sticker would make huh fall apart

thanks karen! the trampoline is usually used by my friend's daughter who is a gymnast and a dancer so there's no netting or padding around it. so when the wee ones are on it we all take turns at "tramp duty" - my poor son - everytime he went over to the trampoline all the other adults would leave him there - alone and in charge.

askew - your poor sister ;)
and such silly neighbors - accidents are what hoses were invented for.

tt - let's just skip directly to the town painting part!! smooches sweetie

Just thinking about the act of trying to get up on a trampoline sends my joints into fits of pain. It's a struggle for me to get up on a little step stool and that's only two steps! Age, arthritis -not something that motivates me towards exercise of any type. And, even if I could get up on one of those things, I'd probably fall over and off before getting any fun bouncing in -unless you would count the bounce off to the ground.

Dianne said...

jeni - at one point when it was my turn to supervise I was just leaning against the edge and almost fell over LOL!!!
one of the kids said "wow it sucks to get old" - and I don't think we're old! just trampoline challenged

Karen said...

How old is your son? I need a one man amusement park in my area.

Oh, I kid, I kid. :)

Dianne said...

lol Karen! If he wasn't married ... I can't set him up if he's married. Right? ;)
He's 35

I like your son and I've never even met him! If kids intuitively like somebody, then that person is a good person.... kids know...

Dianne said...

quiet rage - thanks, and you're right. kids know - and animals.

Odat said...

what a happy post!!! Kids and dogs and trampolines and red cups!
Peace

Patti said...

I like how you combined the two concepts, Project Black and Ruby Tuesday..

Your son sounds like a great young guy. It's true that kids and animals can instantly sense a good person.
I wonder why some people seem to lose that ability as they grow up? I like to think I have it.

That is so great of your son! When my middle brother was really young and DH and I would come to visit? He'd be fascinated by DH.

Of course, at 18 and just into college? He still is always fascinated by DH.

Back then it was the 4x4, crew cab, long bed pick up truck equiped with CB, etc.

Now, it's still the truck and the tractors too!

Dianne said...

odat - thanks! your comment made me smile!

patti - I think you have it. I think I do too. I think some of us hang on to all the good things in our inner child. thank you for such kind words.

farmers wife - DH sounds like another one of the good guys :)
