Ruby Tuesday: Classic Car

I went to a local summer festival two weeks ago. Part of the festival was a Classic Car Show.

I found this beauty perfect for RUBY TUESDAY. I like the reflection of the other car in the side of this one.

I met the owners, a couple in their late 60s. The wife told me the car was her anniversary gift to her husband. He had talked about that car for years. After their last child graduated college she decided it was time to spend a little money on them - on him. They spoke with so much love and regard for each other - I was happy for them.

And that car most definitely is a "Classic" - my favorite model and year too- for cars any way.

Way cool! I can't wait to show Thing #2, she's a HUGE fan of classic cars!

Beautiful classic car. I found a beautiful story that involved the car, the husband of giving this gift for his wife.
hugs, Denise

A '56 Chevy Nomad? What's not to like about that! (Not as sexy my foot!)
And this one's "cherry" too... (Much more so than my buddy's '56 Bel Air in high school!)
Nice shot... and thanks for the memories.

Thanks for stopping by too,
- Mojo

I'm not much into cars but this one looks gorgeous.

Cool car! Now, I know part of the inspiration when the boys and girls were designing my car. (I've got a Dodge Magnum.) But I wish that mine was that shade of red. It's awesome! :D

I love all those old classics and especially the bright colors. nice shot.

I like that there is a story going with that shinny red car. That couple reminded me Mark's grandma & grandpa. They are in their early 80ies, still hold their hands and just adore each other.

Wow, bringing back the memories. Our first car was a station wagon too, not as classy though, a conservative brown ford which took us across Canada one summer when we were first married. A lovely red for Ruby Tuesday!

juliana said...

what a wonderful car, and such vivid red!

Columbo said...

Very Red! Awesome vintage car. Great posting for Ruby Tuesday. I only hope my wife gives me this type of anniversary gift.

Wow, I love that car! Wish I have one.

Jan said...

Yeah, from back in the day.
This is a '56, but when I was in high school, I begged for a '55. No way, my Dad said, All you'll do is race around town. Yes, he knew me well.

Oh now that is a beauty for ruby Tuesday! Fabulous find...

Great classic car - it looks so roomy, and I love the fins. Nice that you met the owners and found out the story of how they acquired the car.

queen size funny bone - my favorite old car is the one with the giant fins! :)

ivanhoe - mark's grandparents sound lovely!

me ann - one of the first cars I drove was an old station wagon with those fake wood panels on the side - I looked ridiculous but hey, it moved ;)

juliana - thanks!!

columbo - I guess you have to start dropping hints now! the husband told me the car had been a dream of his from "when it was new" LOL

just say - I know! I wanted to drive it away!!

Dianne..that was a lovely comment that you left on my monarch post. Thank you.. That is a car when cars were really cars. My husband removed the cat before he managed to bring up a fur ball on my pillow this morning. Now that is love...LOL...

PS..I am wondering if a TENS unit could help with your pain. I don't tolerate pain meds well, but I use a TENS unit for my back.

What a beautiful "old" car. Actually I remember these cars, so they can't be that old! Good Post for RT. Have a happy one.

Wayyyyy cool car! So great to hear the story about the sweet couple who own it, it makes me so happy when I meet people like that.
It's been a busy day around here but I wanted to check out the blogs you named in your last post - I haven't had a chance to get to all of them but I'm already crazy for Quiet Rage...what a great find! Can't wait to check out the others.

OldLady Of The Hills said...

That's quite a color, isn't it? Great picture!

About C-Span and MSNBC....Monday they had Ann Curry pushing that same agenda of the Hillary people, etc... And it was during Jimmy Carters speech, Soooo Of Course, I couldn't see it! That's when I swithched to C-Span.....
Tonight I had on C-Span, as well...And just because I am perverse...I switched over to MSNBC After the Governer of PA spoke...Once again, there was Ann Curry, pushing that same stupid Agenda about The Hillary people...I switched right back.
I wonder what they will be pushing on Wednesday, after Hillary's Great Speech tonight??
I understand that they have to find something to make it seem there is a struggle happening, but really....What we want to see are ALL the speakers and not hear the Pundits so in love with the sound of their own voice. They should be ashamed!!!

Thanks so much for your very kind words.....As to signing up...Well, I have a really hard time with HAVING to do some assignment on a schedule, when it comes to blogging. I like being free wheeling and posting whatever--whenever. So, I have not joined any of these photo things for that reason---And there are a ton of them. But I appreciate you asking.

Jientje said...

Wow!!! What a stunning picture of a gorgeous car!! That's a great find for a ruby!

Jo said...

I dig the car...it makes me think of cherry-bomb popsicles & Gidget.

I'm sorry you're feeling crappy, Sweetpea. I hope you're getting some rest...is that possible? I'm sending you big smushy hugs in lieu of tranquilizers b/c I just don't know where to get them :)

Bobkat said...

Wow! Now that's red and a half! That car has plenty of character. I wonder if it was that couples Ruby anniversary present to each other?

Diane Mandy said...

Sounds to me like the owners are as classic as the car.

That Chevy looks like the new Ford crossover only nicer with less gas mileage.

Anonymous said...

WOw!! That is a great pick of pic for Ruby Tueday! :) WHat amazing colour! :)

Dianne said...

people with cameras - I loved how the shininess captured the car next to it!

ettey - thanks, I'm so glad I found it to shoot.

dot - I agree, SUVs are taking over the roads, especially the giant ones!! Somewhere along the line people decided to turn their cars into extensions of their living room!

napaboaniya - the car always had a crowd around it :)

Dianne said...

askew to you - the shine was amazing! hope your son is better today :)

becky and gary - I believe it was a late 50s model - and since I'm a mid 50s model I agree - not old ;)

willthink4wine - they sure have, very little style and lots of crappy material

roger - it is an amazing shade of red :)

matt-man - sweet indeed!! she was spectacular.

quiet rage - I was so glad I spoke to them, they kind of hung back and let the car speak for itself but you know me, always gotta know the scoop lol

gattina - it's the red all other reds want to be lol

shelly - they made me happy too! and they loved that I was more interested in them than in the car lol
I'm so glad you found and liked Quiet Rage - she is fantastic!! Says all the stuff we're all thinking and is funny as well.

oldold lady of the hills - glad you like the car, thanks
the media is already doing body language analysis to decide whether Hillary meant what she was saying and they're going out of their way to find every nutjob they can and then portray them as a majority - such crap!

Dianne said...

jientje - I wanted my shot to do the car justice, thanks!!

jo - cherry bomb popsicles!! Yes!! the Good Humor man used to come around with those :)
I'll be OK sweet lucious ;)
Just need to keep on keeping on

bob-kat - they've been married over 40 yrs so it's possible! I wish I had thought to ask

diane - they were classic, an aura of total peace and love and joy just exuded from them - I can see you and Max that way years from now :)

mark - the Ford Flex - have you seen the commercials? they're obnoxious - it's like they're trying to bring yuppies back

urban buddha - I'm so glad the car's beauty came thru! thanks!!

This is great!! A 1956 Chevy Delray 2 door wagon. Hot rodded a bit, and in a beautiful probably $10K RED paint job.

The 'carhead' in me says that this dreamy 56 looks fine! Happy Ruby Tuesday!

ralph - it's funny you mention the 10K paint job - someone asked the owners how much the it cost to get that amazing color and shine and the husband chuckled while the wife punched him in the arm LOL

hildegarde - thanks :)
and I'm sure you will enjoy Creative Photo

tammy - thanks :)

mark - I thought it cost that much. It's almost impossible to find a clear price quote for it online, guess they want to suck people in.

kimmie - thanks :)

greyscale - the shine was amazing in the sun - from a distance the car practically glowed!

patti - I've mentioned before that red is one of my least favorite colors but I find myself appreciating it more and more each Tuesday :)
