Mia & Siren Need a Favor

My friend Daryl posted about an animal shelter she knows. The shelter has a chance to win $10,000. Money that would go far to care for the animals they rescue.

You can check out what Daryl has to say about them here - DARYL.

This little bit comes from the woman who runs the shelter ...

Please click on the link and register your name to support my animal shelter, NY Pet-I-Care
If we get a lot of names, we have a chance to win a much needed $10,000. Would you also please forward this to everyone on your e-mail list.

Because of the terrible economy, dogs and cats are being abandoned at alarming rates and we have more than ever to save.....every bit helps......so thank you, thank you so much.

Mia and Siren say thank you too!!

I always include some dog and cat food in the food baskets we give to the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul around the holidays. I'll do what I can to help, Dianne.

I know first hand how expensive pets are, but they're part of the family and I would do with a great deal before I gave them up.

Our local-non-killing shelter had to shut down this past year. They couldn't get a penny from the ASPCA... I hope this shelter gets what they need. Animals really do become one of the family and I know my pets have meant the world to me. My current pup has gotten me through many lonely nights that I'm not sure I would have gotten through otherwise.

Not sure Adam nor I could get by without Mojo and Sam and it is so sad what is happening to animals everywhere as the money gets tighter and tighter. I'll go there now. Thanks!

Of course I signed. I didn't even consider what would happen to pets with the poor economy.

You constantly amaze me with your huge heart.

Every pet I have owned has come from a shelter...

Our shelter here is in the running too...I think everything is going to get much worse for pets...

Who could turn Mia and Siren down? Off to sign on.

I tried to sign on but it wouldn't accept my post code :(

Look at those faces! What else is there to do but sign?

Animals will be first to suffer in hard times. I'm off to sign and will email Mia and Siren's request to friends.

anndi - that's so cool of you to add pet food, most people wouldn't think of that

butterfly - it is so wonderful to see you back!!
I know how much you love animals :)

sylvia - they are part of the family!
I get anxious when Mia has one of her resp. infections. I have insurance for Siren but don't have the extra $$$ to insure her right now and if she got sick ...

knight - thanks sweet girl! I read somewhere that a lot of people who are losing their homes are leaving their pets in the forelosed homes when they leave!!
crap like that makes me crazy

bond - awwww, thanks
I wish everyone would get shelter pets

rambling - I'm afraid you're right. all we can do is the best we can do
good luck to your shelter too

raven - tell me about me! these 2 have me wrapped around their paws ;)

jackie - I guess you have to be in the States. thanks for trying :)

meno - thanks!! Mia and Siren send wet sandpapery kisses

gabrielle - thanks for spreading the word, very wonderful of you

bobbie - thanks!!

holly - actually Siren did say something about needing to do some haunting ;)
good to see your lovely face

ron - you're the best, thanks :)

queen size funny bone - it's so important to find a vet you can trust
I had a great one in Brooklyn and when we first moved to NJ I kept going back but cats really don't travel well. My sweet JR got really sick and the travel was too much
I went thru 3 vets before I finally found a good one
their services are expensive but then again their costs have gone up too
my vet's rent has been increased 300% when he renegotiated his lease and his assistants all wanted health benefits
it's all such a crazy system!!

matt-man - you're a prince matty ;)

roger - thanks good lookin'

mark - that entire site has a wealth of information and activism
I have already done some work for NRDC re. the wolf hunting.
I do wish we could hunt those hunters from helicopter OR - for just one day I'd love it if Mother Nature would turn the tables and arm the animals and set them loose on the hunters.

butterfly - thanks :)

tt - the furkids send love to Auntie TT

I hadn't thought about how many pets are being abandoned because of the economic fallout. How sad.

Nice kitty pictures. How could you not just love those two to pieces?

Dianne said...

starr - you can't have them but you can visit them any time you want! :)

jeff - it's always the most helpless without a voice of their own
mia and siren say thanks, they think they're pretty lovable too ;)

A very worthy cause. I have long supported local shelters in my local area adn animal charities in general.

Love the pics of Mia and Siren :)

Dianne said...

janey ruth - thanks for supporting the shelter

bob-kat - Mia and Siren love to be loved!

Natalie said...

Done!

They love and trust their owners unconditionally and suffer the most when the economy gets bad. My heart breaks whenever I read about those left behind when their owners' homes are foreclosed. When I was doing rescue I also felt just as bad for the kittens and cats that just weren't getting adopted because of everyone tightening their belts. Under normal economic conditions, they would have been flying out of the shelters. Such a shame.

magnetbabe - Mia and Siren send tons and tons of love to their favorite Auntie Babe :)

Sorry, Siren. Your name threw me off ;o) Next time I will call the two of you "kids"....

Dianne, I'm on my way over to Daryl's and I will list my name... :)

Dianne said...

ivanhoe - and here he thought it was because he was so pretty ;)
I named him Siren because he was rescued by a policewoman and when he first got here all he did was wail - I mean waillllllllllll

mary - thanks!!

Oop, I mean me too!

Dianne said...

akelamalu - yes, Jackie had the same problem - thanks for trying. I wonder if there is a UK version of this group?

farmers wife - it is awful when the most helpless suffer for the failings of the most powerful. thanks for helping
