Let's Hear It For The Girls

Tarra is a chubby girl. Bella is short.

They met at a wonderful resort in Tennessee and the friendship that developed was magic.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Yes - Tarra is an elephant and Bella is a dog but that hardly seems to matter.

You can visit all the elephants and dogs HERE

It's a great site - with videos and a live cam. There's a store to help the efforts - and Tarra and Bella have their own T-Shirts now.

Elephants are wonderful. They are loyal and true and exceptionally smart and soulful.

And of course we all know - dogs are an elephant's best friend.

You and I both have our bladders behind our tear ducts. Mine are really cleared out this morning. From your video and then the one of Ned arriving at the Sanctuary. Of course I had to blog about it also. Thanks so much for finding this and sharing it. Hugs, J
Can you believe how gentle Tarra is with Bella. and how trusting Bella is? Amazing

Oh (choke, sniff sniff) that was so wonderful... It should really have a kleenex alert at the beginning, though.

Smalltown RN said...

that is just so adorable...as humans we make friends with all types of people...why shouldn't the animal kingdom be the same....mind you maybe that is where we humans got the idea.....

Dianne said...

bear - my pleasure - I love spreading good stuff, stuff to warm our hearts :)

jay s - ... and our hearts on our sleeves ;)
and we wouldn't have it any other way. Ned did me in as well.
I love how Bella rolls over and lets Tarra stroke her belly - the ultimate in trust.
as the reporter said - people can take a less on from these animals

daryl - come on over Lisa!! :)
I adore elephants - as I said - they have such good hearts and are so loving and loyal

rambling - it is sweet :)

deborah - a kleenex alert! lol
I'm so glad I found this story

smalltown rn - and their friendship is just so simple and pure - they chose each other :)

I love Elephants! I remember a Clint Eastwood movie were he played a director that was making a African film. While he was making the movie, all he wanted to do was hunt and kill a big tusker elephant. But in the end he could not do it, he said "to kill a elephant was to kill your own very soul". I couldn't agree more with that.

I have quite the collection of elephants around the house as they are my favorite animal. Actually, my cousin and I joke that due to the size of a good majority of us in the family, we have adopted the elephant as our family mascot and crest so every year for Christmas and birthdays we get each other something elephantine!

Ken said...

Thanks for that! I already feel sad for the elephant knowing Bella won't be be able to keep up.

Dianne said...

bobbie - stories like this always get me but especially elephants!!

pagan - you're welcome :)

linda r - I was hoping it would make everyone feel good :)

roger - that's a great quote

linda - that's funny - I always tell people I love elephants because chubby girls have to stick together ;)

micky - it did occur to me that Tarra will live much longer than Bella but I didn't want to think about that - I guess she'll deal with it the way we do when someone we love passes on. I have always felt a bit sad that dogs and cats don't live as long as we do ...

What? Oh, I just yawned...that's why my eyes were a little moist. It happens when I yawn.

Hugs and blessings,

Dianne said...

travis - I just realized I said we were both 'bi yawners' - not that there's anything wring with that lolololol but in this case I meant we were 'big yawners'
;)

storyteller - I believe most animals are better people than most people :)

We are in the end times. Dogs and Elephants hanging out? There is something unseemly about them "sleeping" together. Cheers Di!!

I saw it on the news...so cool. Glad you blogged it for all those folks that are too cool for TV ;)

mare - Impressed is a fine way to explain it. They are loyal friends and the sanctuary does so much good.

shelly - I'll never be too cool for TV!

What a great story Dianne, thanks for sharing it.

gabrielle said...

I came here to heal after the Gaza story. thank you, Diane. I will come back often.

Dianne said...

reb - you're welcome! thanks for checking it out :)

gabrielle - I actually feel as though I have detracted from the beauty of Tarra and Bella by having the Gaza post follow them but in a way the intention is the same - The Queen's words are careful and inspiring - had it not been for her I don't know that I could have found my words to be sensitive
I have such a deep affection for you gabrielle - you feel like a soul sister :)

I've heard and read about some elephants attacking humans, but to me they're one of the smartest animals around with a small heart :)

p/s: the moment I shot the picture of the "No Camera" sign, the security shoo me off..lol!

Dianne said...

napaboaniya - I hate being shoo'd!!

Bobkat said...

I adore elephants. They are one of my favourite animals :) My Nan lived in India for awhile and she instilled in me a great respect for these beasts and also taught me that an elephant in the house is good luck. I have two, just for extra luck :)

Dianne said...

bob-kat - I have a few in my home too :)
