A Wordzzle for 'W'

The ever vigilant and ravishing RAVEN is keeping Wordzzle alive this week even though she has no PC monitor! What a woman! Go by and tell her she rocks and check out all the stories.

This week’s words are:

tuna on rye, ghost hunters, I'm as corny as Kansas in August, sympathetic ear, science fiction, muffler, cavernous, giraffes, prospecting, paraphernalia
Key Lime Pie, porcupine, Library of Congress, fingernails, spell-bound

This is my story and I’m sticking to it …

Libby Media got to Andrews Air Force Base early Tuesday morning. She carried with her all her paraphernalia for the day. A sandwich – tuna on rye; a big slice of key lime pie; a thermos of coffee; a paperback version of the latest science fiction bestseller and her big fuzzy red muffler. She was ready to fight off hunger and thirst, boredom and cold. It would be a long, tedious day but Libby was full of joy. For once she was sure of the ending and it was a happy one.

Thanks to her friend who was a research assistant at the Library of Congress Libby was able to get a ticket to be in the hangar for the farewell ceremony. She had already gotten through all the security checks and headed toward the line for VIP ticket holders. Being a bit daunted by the cavernous expanse of the hangar Libby walked slowly toward the rope line. Just ahead of her was a young woman who also slowed down to take in the scene. As Libby approached her she saw the woman was wearing a shirt with Bush’s face on it – he had that spell-bound by shiny objects look on his face - under that the shirt proclaimed “End of an Error”. Libby made sure to be right next to her as they entered the roped off area.

“So I’m thinking I should close my jacket” the young woman said laughing. Libby smiled and nodded. “Shame to cover up such a great message but probably wise.” “Oh thank goodness, a sympathetic ear.” The shirt wearer was downright jubilant. “My name is Progress.” “I’m Libby; I thought I’d be the only one here thrilled to wave buh-bye.” The two women settled into a comfortable silence as they stood side by side taking in all the activity.

Secret Service and FBI mingled with DC police. They literally swarmed the field surrounding the tarmac and hangar. “Prospecting for terror” Libby said sarcastically. Progress laughed, “I wonder if they have specially trained giraffes in the tall trees. Too bad we didn’t realize in time that the enemy was in the White House.”

Libby glanced at her watch. “Obama and Bush should be in the limo by now, headed to the Capitol. I can’t imagine what that ride must be like.” Progress shuddered and then laughed. “I’m sure Barack is checking his notes and making some calls while George plays Ghost Hunters on his Game Boy.”

The line was moving now and Libby and Progress followed the others into the hangar. The crowd formed a semi-circle on either side of the building. There was a small stage set up in the center with a podium and a few chairs on it.

“You know he’s going to give another one of his folksy talks” Libby told Progress. A couple behind them laughed and the man said “Just one more take on his endless I’m as corny as Kansas in August repertoire.” His wife laughed and an older woman standing beside her joined in with “Every time that idiot gave a speech it was like fingernails on a chalkboard.” Chuckles and nervous coughs could be heard throughout the hangar. Libby turned to Progress with a huge smile on her face. “I thought this was going to be his crowd. How many people here are sincerely happy to be saying good-bye to the Shrub?” she asked earnestly.

Progress pulled open her jacket just as the motorcade entered the hangar – “How many quills on a porcupine Libby!”

I felt the need to mark the end of the Bush Administration but did not wish to taint Martin Luther King Day or the Inauguration with any mention of this abomination to humanity and democracy.

It will take a long time and a lot of elbow grease to dissolve the slime he and his fellow criminals have spread over America.

But at least we’re on our way.

So Bye-Bye Georgie Boy.

I wish for you EXACTLY what you deserve.

I just hope he never gets a book deal... the man just needs to walk quietly off into the sunset and NEVER show his face in public again.

Man I love your Wordzzles. You're so creative. I like that you took the topic of the day and spun it in there.

and melli's right... he needs to walk off into the sunset...

We can only hope. But somehow I doubt he'll do that.

Dianne, you are a wonder! This was a great one.

I've got my littlr key ring that has a "counter" on it...Counting down the days, hours, seconds, and milliseconds to 1-20-09....!
I've never enjoyed anything so much! It says. 2 days, 6 hours, 19 monutes and well....the seconds are moving on as I write. Soon, Soon, Soon.....!
HOORAY!

Great job! Applying fact to fiction makes for a great story.

He'll slip away quietly and surround himself with friends and continue the self delusion that he was a great man who kept us safe. It's enough for me that I don't have to see him or hear him again.

I hear he is looking for some Americans to stay with for a spell as he tours across America on his way to Texas. Are you interested :)

Sylvia K said...

Amen, amen! I wish I could feel certain that he'll get what he deserves, but I'm not that big of a dreamer, damnit all anyway! At least he'll be gone, from DC anyway. What an ass!

Sylvia K said...

Oh, and by the way -- he really does look presidential in that photo, huh?????

Jay S - oh great game!! love your title - I'm thinking
"What I Destroyed On My 8 Year Vacation"

Jeff - hehehehehehe

rich - I don't write violence very well - plus if anything happened to the fuck it would just be used as an excuse to kill more people in Gaza

linda r - seems to good an ending for him

lu - lol!!!
yes I would be interested. I could show him all the ways he's screwed up the lives of people like me

sylvia - I think that photo is the finest capture of his presidency - it should be his official portrait

I still believe he bought 600,000 acres in Uruguay... so he can have his own country to be king of.

So let me get this straight.

There were many people who felt that the Iraqi reporter who threw his shoes at Mr Bush showed disrespect to the office of the President and by extension to the American people.

From this photo, what should we conclude about Mr Bush's respect for the office of the President and the American people?

Ken said...

Loved it! My disrespect for the man, W, is less than my disrespect for the men, and women who lead the idiot into the shithole of respect he left, for this country.

gabrielle said...

Just like anything else that has adhered to the sole of my shoe and smells bad, I’m happy to scrape it off at the closest curb.

Let the rains wash the waste away. And may we collectively move on.

MLK remembrance tomorrow and then the inauguration!!!

Inspired use of words, Dianne.

Schmoop said...

Why are you so mean to a man who obviously is a victim of blunt force trauma to the head? You're cruel. Cheers Di!!

Dianne said...

travis - I wish I knew for sure but I think the photo might be doctored. I don't care though - it represents W perfectly.

micky - so true! there is so much guilt to spread around, so many who will never be held accountable

gabrielle - I do want to move on yet I want Bush to pay - and pay dearly for what he has done to this country.

matt-man - that's just the way I roll ...
