... died today at the young age of 62.
My sister adored Farrah. She copied her hairstyle, her makeup, her clothes. She devoured every magazine that had any mention of Farrah.
We called my sister Farrah. And it wasn't always a compliment. We used it as her code name for being shallow and silly - obsessed by appearance. We were young and not necessarily kind. And my sister was difficult - to say the least.
I became a fan of Farrah because of her performance in 'The Burning Bed' and then again because of what I perceived to be her strength and independence.
I have this image in my head - my sister and Farrah in some other world beauty salon - picture Steel Magnolias - and they're having the spa day of all spa days.
Peaceful Journey Farrah. Give Patricia a gentle hug for us. And please! just tell her the highlights look natural.

Bless your heart. I felt bad on hearing about Farrah this morning, I know that you must feel like one more piece of your childhood is gone. I'm so sorry.
What a tribute to your sister...my thoughts are with you...Rest in peace Farrah...
A beautiful post. it is always said when people leave us.
What a wonderful post, Dianne, and may they both rest in peace and enjoy spa days forever!
She was my favorite Angel. Always. May she rest in peace.
Nice tribute to your sister Dianne and to Farrah. I hope Farrah and Ryan managed to get married before she passed. :(
your story is a nice tribute to her memory.
My son must be heart-broken. He had that poster of her (full body) and kept it on his bedroom wall for years and years. I just sold it at a garage sale about 2 years ago.
Are you ok if I post a PSA?
Farrah had anal cancer. Anal cancer is nasty, nasty stuff (and different from colon cancer). Often, it can be tough to self-detect before it reaches an advanced stage, which is why it is important to ask your GYN to do an anal exam. If detected early, the prognosis is good.
*stepping down from soapbox.*
Lovely and touching post, Dianne.
A sad day. I saw where Ryan O'Neill was telling everyone he was going to marry her...finally...he waited too long.
She certainly turned her image around with 'The Burning Bed'
Sweet tribute and loved hearing of sis.
Very touching, Dianne. A lovely way to think of your sister and Farrah.
A sad day....I felt somewhat like you about Farrah...but I too admired her indepemndent spirit...I know her last two years were no doubt hell on earth---Hopefully she is there with your sister at that Spa....
And now, Michael Jackson....Shocking, really. 50 years old....
I thought we all wanted hair like that. I sure did, so I can't blame your sister for doing the same. May all of our loved ones who have left us rest in peace.
Beautiful tribute to both Farrah and your sister.
What a lovely post. Such a sad day.
It is a sad day. My highschool yearbook is full of girls donning the 'Farrah' hair. My brother had the famous poster. Charlie's Angels, was the best show ever, for its time.
I don't know it for a fact, but I choose to believe that she was as beautiful inside as she was outside.
So sad, she was far too young. Lovely tribute to her and your sister Dianne.
*sigh* yesterday was a day when death certainly was news for the talking heads. Hope all of their families get to mourn out of the glare of the spotlight.
I have been a Farah fan for many, many years...even later, when she went a bit nutty...
But she was special...that hair and great smile. Lots of fun to watch and she was a good actress to boot.
This is a nice memorial!
Eloquent and elegant, Dianne. Well done.
Really lovely tribute, Dianne - thanks.
Never thought much of Farrah. But apparently there was more than air in the hair. Or so I am learning now she is gone.
We remember her as a Charlie’s Angel. We remember the iconic poster, the smile, the hair. What was left out of the picture: she quit Charlie’s Angels after one year with a 5 year contract looming over her. She wanted to be someone who belonged to herself. She made “The Burning Bed” and several other emmy awarded movies.
I watched as the hair was shaved off and she never looked back. She stared down death fearlessly. So often we see the image and not the person. Thank you for this beautiful tribute to both women. It gives pause for thought.
I didn't know much about Farrah, but she's certainly beautiful. Thanks for letting me know a little more about her life, and her strength.
It's too bad that Farrah will mostly be remembered for her work on Charlie's Angels and not for her very good dramatic roles. It's also too bad that she is being buried by all the buzz about Michael Jackson but that's the news media for ya.
I hope that she's finally getting some peace and rest and that she is no longer in pain. No one deserves to go through the hell that she did with her cancer.
I'm sure that she and your sister are getting their hair and nails done to the max while laughing maniacally. God bless them both - and you, too.
Ha. Very cute Dianne. Have a good weekend and Cheers!!
Like so many, my heart aches over her passing.
I loved Charlie's Angels but she blew me away with the burning bed. I hope she is at peace...
I just watched some of The Burning Bed again last night. Terrific movie. She was really awesome as your sister must have been in her own ways too.
