Wasn't Wednesday

Today, Wednesday July 1, was my grandchild’s official due date.

My son and I were both born on a Wednesday.
Baby has other plans.

Someone said Wednesday wasn’t a good day for babies based on this silly ancient poem.

Mondays child is fair of face,
whites only?
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
pole dancer?
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
yeah I got it
Thursdays child has far to go,
child left behind?
Fridays child is loving and giving,
passive aggressive doormat?
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
women don’t work?
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Non Christians better not be born on Sunday
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
finally! good and gay in the same phrase

Babies come when they want. Due dates are estimates. A first baby is often late.

My DIL had her weekly doc appointment today. All is fine, baby just isn’t ready. She’ll go back Monday.

I don’t have any baby pictures to show but there is baby furniture. The whole drama from a couple of weeks ago was sorted out much faster than expected. I still think Pottery Barn Kids is too expensive and their service is crap.

How exciting for you. What a pretty baby room. I always thought that was a fun part of expecting, planning the room.

Oh, I was so mad when my first child dared not to arrive on the due date. Bet you are not living with happy people right now. :p

PS That's exactly right about "Thursday's Child." Our paper used to even carry a "Thursday's Child" column and feature an abandoned/ ex-foster, ready to adopt kid who needs a home. It does raise awareness and kids DO get adopted through that because it makes people think (and it's not like they hand kids out like puppies... you still have to go through a process). But I'm not sure I'd want my "story" splashed in the paper if it were me. Well, maybe I would. I don't know.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock . . .

Baby just isn't done cooking yet. Funny, they don't care a thing about what we consider their due date should be.

Nice room, but where are all the primary colors? Those walls need some pizazz don't ya think?

Great looking room! And babies come when they're good and damn ready! All four of mine did it their own way and I was just transportation.
It'll be great whenever he/she puts in an appearance! Holding good thoughts for you all!

You still ranting about Pottery Barn Kids...you go girl LOL. It's getting close I can feel it :) You won't believe what day I'm born on...I'll stop here...LOL. come out come out where ever you are georgie/laura :)

So hard to wait...and wait...and wait...

Have to laugh at that phrase - "due date". All four of mine made a mockery of it. And still it persists in the minds of doctors. There is no such thing as "late" or "early". Babies just arrive in their own good time.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh OK I guess it's a chick thing this whole room and wicker, rocking horse affair.

just me - my DIL and her Mom enjoy it, I'm not much of a decor type - I just take photos of everything

mrs c - the little boy across the street -who adores my son - is a July 4 baby, he's getting really excited to share his day :)

queen size funny - thanks :)

jeff - I agree. my son is OCD about walls but there are some paintings to hang and one of my photos - once my DIL decides which one - I did a series of carousels and ferris wheels

sylvia - transportation eh? LOL

thom - you and my grandbaby sharing a birthday? I would be OK with that, you're a good guy

bobbie - that's what I told my son - it's an estimate I kept telling him

mark - my favorite part of the room is the bedding and the little lamb
personally I think the rest is too dark and way too expensive but that's just me ;)

cloudia!!!!! - I lost ya between Mrs C's ;)
I kind of liked mocking that poem - I'm getting a little sick of people telling me that me and Jeff are "full of woe" - they're full of shit

Love all the warm browns so soothing ...

Crossing digits for an easy delivery whenever she decides to arrive

daryl - I love that you said she, I was saying she until a few weeks ago and then he just came out - Connie also pointed out to me that the last outfit I bought was a boy's outfit - all the others have been uni - I wonder what that all means LOL

It seems the beautiful room is just waiting, too! My grandniece took her sweet time getting here, too. It's hard to believe she's already 11 weeks old!

Oh Nana! That baby room turned out pretty good after all. I'm glad it worked out. I'm a Tuesday baby so let me get back to my pole, k? :o)
I bet the baby will come on Tuesday. Do you have any guessing games planned for us bloggers?

Sure is a PRETTY layette though! I LOVE that bassinet! Yep - first babies often go late... but when they get here - they're right on time! They are all born on the perfect day for THEM! And yours will come sOOn!

I'm amused by the term due date, as if something is owed or late like a library book.
What is so beautiful is the loving arms this baby will fall into.

I was born on a Wednesday too, and I don't think I'm full of woe.

My first was a week late, which made it perfect because she was born on my birthday. ;-)

I understand how hard the waiting is.

The baby is lucky to have such a beautiful room waiting.

I was born on a Wednesday too.

I love the furniture, especially the wicker bassinette. Lucky baby! If I knew I had such a nice room in store, I wouldn't wait to be born. ;-)

Ooh, wow, what a comfy looking recliner! And all we had years ago was a hard rocking chair with a flattened out pad on the seat. ;)

That is a gorgeous baby room.

I can't believe you called me a passive aggressive doormat.

Hmmm. Reading that old poem, I thought of my own kids and myself -and boy, for my girls -both born on a Thursday, as well as my son, born on a Wednesday, it does seem to be holding true for them. Now as to myself -I was a Sunday baby, does that explain anything?
Loved the view of the nursery too and I see you have a really big, soft and probably quite comfy piece of the most important equipment needed when there is a baby in the house -a good rocking chair! The rocking horse right now is kind of full of high expectations though, don't 'cha think? Good pics and post though kid and you're right -all babies do tend to come when they are darned good and ready and they make sure too that we are not!

The baby room is just beautiful! My youngest was born on a Wednesday - he was as good as gold. :)

I was a Tuesday child and graceful I ain't! Hm, my sister too...maybe that's why mom had us both in ballet and dance lessons?

Love the room, but it is definitely decorated for mom. It won't take long though for the baby stuff to brighten it up.

I'll have to see if my brothers were born on Sunday ;)

There's still next Wednesday what with due dates being a total guess at best and total crap at worst!

The furniture is very nice but it also looks very pricey and if the service is screwed up for over-priced stuff then what does that say for regular ole' stuff??

Just think, if baby comes on Saturday then he/she can sing "I'm a Yankee doodle dandy ... born on the 4th of July!"

I was born on a Sunday. What are you saying? Cheers Di!!

Such a deal! I'm impressed with the living conditions for this new young 'un!

And that big comfy rocker/recliner!

I'd say you're all set for sure!

I'm a wednesday's child!
I was surprised to see all the padding inside the cot. We are advised not to use those tie on things for safety reasons. Not sure why though!!
Both our babies slept in our room for three-four months in carry-cots on the floor LOL

I don't ever remember the day of the week, just the date I was born 11 April.

I can report that my niece was born exactly on her due date, 13 Nov.

Hey...I LOVE the baby's room, Dianne! Excellent taste!

The little rocking horse made me squeal!

Love ya!

Room looks lovely even if the stuff is over priced. Looking forward to the big news when the baby chooses his/her date. Do they have names picked out? Rocking horse is adorable... and the lamb... and...

Well, so much for that old rhyme, now that you've added a dose of reality!
Pretty room, but where's the color? I guess that's out of style now.
