I was working on finishing at least one of the many blog posts I have in draft form when we had an outrageous thunderstorm. The nightly news was on and they were showing a map of clear skies everywhere but my area which was all red and yellow.
Siren doesn't care much about thunder anymore, fireworks still make him anxious but thunder just gets a passing glance.
Isadora seemed OK although she did come to be near me ...
And then there was the thunderclap of all thunderclaps. The mother of all thunderclaps. Followed very quickly by a lightening strike that made the lights flicker and the cable go to snow.
In that instant Isadora managed to get herself up and under the tray table and firmly wedged in between my leg and the arm of the sofa ...
This really pissed Siren off ...
After punishing the sofa he tried to unplug the laptop ...
Then he went for the sympathy vote ...
The storm has passed. The cats are asleep. And I'm still working on finishing at least one blog post.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

WOW, Dianne....I can't believe you got a thunderstorm today, because we here in Philly had nothing but bright sunny skies, 93 degree heat and 150,000% humidity - UGH!
GOD...I can just tell this summer is gonna be a killer.
Anyway....looking at these photos reminded me of how my one cat (Jerry) would act during a thunder/lightening storm too. He FREAKED!
OMG, that photo of Siren being pissed is hysterical!
It truly amazes me how you get these flawless shots of the kitties.
Glad to hear the storm is over and the cats are alseep. Hope you had SUPER Memorial Day, dear lady. I hung out in a city park and SCHVITZED all afternoon - OY!
X to you and the gang!
You must have had your camera right beside you. Great shots. Great kitties.
ron - I started hating this summer back in April ;)
we spent the afternoon next door, the neighbor had a BBQ
I was hot and getting cranky
and I thought of you ;)
I have some great shots of Hope playing with the other kids, I'll post them soon
linda - they are great kitties, thanks. Isadora has such a funny face, to me she always looks surprised
I did have the camera right there, I was moving pics from the camera to my laptop
lately I keep the camera near me when Siren and Isadora are both in the room with me
I love catching them together :)
Those closeup cat photos are adorable! They have so much personality.
LOL That second photo says it all.
We had some heavy rain and distant thunder in Indiana today. It made the grilling a bit soggy, but hey: free sauna.
Awww...poor kitties! Poor you! Tell Siren the sympathy ploy worked for me. Big time.
That look on Isadora’s face is priceless. For every single fiesta here, they set off a thousand or more very loud fireworks to ward off the demons. They do this all day every day for 4 days in a row. My animals are not amused.
Oh that was a fun post. Love those pics. I too keep a camera close to hand for just those sort of moments.
Those faces! Isadora looks so startled or like she about to get into some real trouble... or tear though the house like my Skitty does to burn off some energy. I love how you have Siren "punishing the couch" lol.
After 8 or 9 years, thunderstorms still freak the hell out of Corky. Cheers Di!!
Rose reacts to every noise, big or small .. she is such a drama queen .. Jack seems oblivious, clearly he suffers from male hearing syndrome ...
First - I am jealous that you got a storm and, presumably, rain.
Second - Apparently Isadora as brave as she would have us all believe.
Third - Poor Siren - doing everything he can think of to get a piece of the attention . . .
The eyes tell the whole story. Glad you could take pictures when you obviously had your lap full.
Isadora looks like she's worried that you might not have noticed the storm. haha
Well, honestly, you got one post done!
fermicat - thanks! I think they are getting used to me and my camera
myMaracas - free sauna!! LOL good way to look at it
ds - Siren will be thrilled to know he still has it :)
scott - thankfully the fireworks here are few and far between, it's illegal so they shoot them for a few moments and then take off
rob - I keep hoping for the moment when they actually cuddle, I'd hate to miss it :)
hugs to your sweet guys
hilary - a few years ago Siren would have been "punishing" me! we have come so far
it's funny how he gets jealous of Isa yet doesn't want me to hold him
men!
matt-man - poor Corky
cats have long memories for instincts but short memories for situations
actually, so do people ;)
daryl - male hearing syndrome!! priceless
trisha - I love the rain, I could have done without the house shaking and the lights flickering
Siren is such a phony LOL
he acts jealous yet doesn't want me to touch him
patti - Isa usually looks startled but this time it was definitely different, I'm so glad she has gone from hiding to coming to me
jay - LOL!! it is quite clear that cats think people are not too bright
vinny - I always finish the things I never really started ;)
Oh the poor kitties! Thunder and lightning used to frighten the bejebus our of our dog. :0
Ha - great photos to tell the story!
Your photos are sooo good. And Isadora is quite a subject. The whiskers are so outlandish.
We had a major storm blow through here around 1:00 a.m. a couple of nights ago and when I got up to shut the windows I thought Tesla was going to have a seizure every time there was a big clap of thunder! The poor guy!
Of course I didn't get any great pictures like you did - maybe next storm?
By the by, how high did YOU jump??
I'd say something sweet and appropriate about the storm and the cats right now but I'm too freaked out by the fish shoes to think coherently!

My photography is available for purchase - visit Around the Island Photography and bring home something beautiful today!
oh those poor puddy tats! They was sca-ud... :)
We don't get too many thunder storms here in the northwest, but I haven't noticed that Mr Tucker is all that fussed when they do happen.
However, when he decides that computer time is over, it's really over. He will not be turned aside...the little punk.
LOL!
Bad storms go away! Wishing you sunshine and blue skies :)
I'm glad our both dogs are pretty good during storms. We have yet to see how the little one behaves during fireworks...
Hugs,
I.
Delightful Post with even more Delightful Pictures....Poor sweet Isadora---you can see how scared she was....I love how she got up in there as close as possibble....lol
And Siren...the ever Jealous Kitty Cat....But Sweet, too....
LOVED this post, my dear Dianne.
Same here. My cat knows when a storm is on it's way and starts freaking out ahead of time. Something about the barometric pressure maybe? Anyway, she gets ALL kinds of wigged out.
Have a wonderful Wednesday Diane!
LoL! This is so funny because as a cat owner, I can just imagine it all! My pair would be just the same I am sure. And Isadora's face! She looks so shocked. So funny Dianne :-D
akelamalu - the dog next door is the first to bark and then all the others around us start up :)
frostbite - thanks you! :)
bobbie - when I would visit her at PetSmart everyone passing the window would comment on her whiskers
linda - I have to admit that when the cable went black and then made a sizzle snow sound I got nervous
and the endless light flickering was creepy
robin - those shoes were something weren't they!!
mary - Isa was, Siren was just annoyed that she was sitting on me :)
travis - my son says all cats should be named 'relentless' ;)
ivanhoe - no one round here likes fireworks - even Siren hides
old old lady of the hills - ever jealous is it exactly!! and Isa always looks surprised, it's hilarious
jennifer - wigged out is it :)
bob-cat - I love her face :) she has the most wonderful expressions
I just noticed that Isadora's eyes and that frilly dangely do-dad behind her are exactly the same colors!
Hi Dianne
Another great site, I hope you will finish many of your draft posts.
I'll be back.
Poor cats - what amazing shots...
Coming in late as always... but those green eyes are amazing!
