I Just Want To Stand On My Head In A Snowdrift

This is the first time I've turned the laptop on since Monday afternoon. It's the first time I had the strength to lift it. My body has been possessed by an evil grinch like bug that makes my head hot while my body is cold. It causes the air pressure around me to feel like that of a crowded airplane that's been circling to land for far too long. And the cough - oh good lord the cough. I didn't think lungs could convulse like that.

And that's just the things that aren't too disgusting to describe.

Maybe I have blizzard blight or snow scurvy.

I took a few photos early Monday morning as the storm was winding down. Our town's official snow total is 27 inches. These shots are taken from the kitchen door by the partially enclosed carport. The wind was so bad that the drift against the front door was about 4 feet high.

The drifts in the little patio off the carport were so high we had to take the gate off the hinges to get to the backyard and the shed.

I added a little grit to the last shot of my son's footprints in the snow. Remember now - this is a covered carport so any snow that got in there was put there by the wind.

I hope to be back to my usual irregular schedule right after the New Year. For now I need another nap.

I always love your description of your occasional ills -- no one expresses it better, no shit!! Snow can be beautiful if it isn't in your neighborhood and I definitely wouldn't want this much along with the wind! Hell, no wonder you're sick!!! Anyway, I'm holding good thoughts for you and sending some healthy bugs your way along with a very Happy New Year and lots of hugs for Hope, of course, when you're well enough to deliver them!! Take care, stay warm!

I agree completely with Sylvia about your description of your ills!
I am aware through the national news that many of my east coast blog friends got dumped on by the white stuff. I heard the storm described as a snow hurricane!

Take care. Feel better soon.

Oh, get well soon dear Dianne! I'm glad you've retained your sense of humour and ability to write so well, but I hope you're rid of the gunk soon.

I'm lucky I've not caught anything yet. But I'm getting the flu jag in a couple of weeks anyway, just in case (if last year is anything to go by I'll feel worse after it, but at least I won't be infectious).

And I also wish you and yours a happy and peaceful new year x

Sick or not, you always share the best!

HOLY COW!!!! These photos of the snow are awesome! We got a lot here in Philly too, but I think because we're in a city, it didn't get as deep. In fact, by the afternoon of the following day it had all been plowed away. The wind was incredible, wasn't it?

I was sooooo thinking of you; knowing your were enjoying it as much as me!

Sorry to hear you're feeling icky, dear lady. Sending ya LOTS of 'good energy' through my comment for a speedy recovery!

(((( Dianne ))))

Happy New Year to you and the gang!

X ya, bunches!

Sorry to hear you have been ill Dianne, I felt rough all over Christmas but thankfully I'm better now.

All the snow has gone here now but I suppose we will be getting what you have in about six weeks time - we usually do.

Wishing you a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2011 and I look forward to reading what you have to share next year. x

I noticed when I had the crud I felt better when outdoors, I'm not sure why. I enjoyed going through your posts, and am amazed at your snow. These are the storms I went through last year, but ours melted away when it was 58 yesterday here in Iowa.We say we have losey weather to give us a topic to begin conversations.Like the Sarah blog, I am amazed who likes her ditzy ideals.I wonder if she ate the heart first, raw.

Oh -- I hope you feel better soon. All that snow would be enuff to make me stay curled up in bed even without all your symptoms.

Take care == feel better!

Looks like you live in the Great White North. Sorry to hear you're feeling so puny, though. I trust you're sipping frequent, medicinal toddies?

Feel better soon, Dianne. Happy New Year to you and yours.

What a storm. I feel almost guilty that it snowed all around us but skipped Hancock and vicinity. Whew!

Sorry you are not feeling well. Scrolled down and enjoyed seeing how your awesome grand daughter is growing and what a delight Isadora is proving to be.

Hope your flu/whatever it is lifts and that you enter the New Year with better health and better spirits.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Your photos bring back memories of my Massachusetts days. We had a white Christmas, but the snow had the courtesy to not stick to anything terribly important.

Happy New Year to you!

You do have a way with words and quiet entertaining, too! My family in NJ also rode out that snowstorm, and I heard all about it with regular updates. Usually, it's me telling them about a snowstorm.
Hope you feel better fast. Loved the title of today's blog!!

I hope you are back to "normal" soon, Dianne!

I must be losing my mind, I could've sworn a left a comment on this post! What the hey???

Either way, now that we are into a new year, I certainly hope that you're feeling better and that you've managed to dig out a little more from your major walloping of a storm. Nothing for nothing but feel free to keep all that white stuff down there in New Jersey as often as you'd like, I really don't miss it up here!

I guess your feeling better by now, so I won't say some nicy nicy thingy that I probably won't mean. But I do want to come play in your snow! SWEET!
