Since It's Sunday

I was at this municipal parking lot yesterday and immediately noticed the three crosses and I was so disappointed that I didn't have my camera with me. This morning I was cleaning out some photo folders and discovered that I had taken these shots of the crosses last summer from the exact same spot I was parked in yesterday.

Spooky.

And it's Sunday.

And it's Lent.

I think the universe talks to us all the time. Some may say it was a message to go back to church. I say it's a sign that beauty is everywhere, even in those things we are not a part of or disagree with.

So I share with you the little enclave of churches in a nearby town and the three crosses ...

I agree that the universe talks to us all the time. I think it's amazing that you didn't remember taking those pictures from last year until you saw them again. Today.

Who knows what it means? Only you can say what it means to you.

What an interesting shot! The three crosses obviously made an impact on you last year, too.

Great shots! I, too, believe that the universe talks to us in sometimes strange ways, but it does communicate if you're willing to listen. Have a great day!

Sorry, but I'm not much of a Universe talker. What the three crosses say to me is that there are three groups of people living in the same neighborhood, worshiping the same God, but in three different ways. Each group thinks they have it right.

There are several conclusions to be drawn. Freedom of worship is good. We find a faith that fits our own needs. We can't agree on anything. God is happy. God is laughing.

That is soooooo amazing!!!

And I agree with you, Dianne....

"I say it's a sign that beauty is everywhere, even in those things we are not a part of or disagree with."

Hope you're having a grrreat Sunday!

X to you and the gang!

That's so cool. Whatever the message, it's good to know you're listening... and sharing.

To me it would be the universe saying "Hey, you take way too many pictures when you can't remember that you took the exact same shot before!" ... which I do ALL the time!

But more seriously, I like your take on it - "I say it's a sign that beauty is everywhere, even in those things we are not a part of or disagree with." There is a lot of beauty in the simple things like three crosses aligning across a city's roof-line and I think that's probably how you looked at it last year when you first took the shot and then were reminded of it yesterday.

And yep, it's Lent but as a non-practicing Congregationalist who still has a strong faith in God and his goodness even though I haven't set foot in a church service in a very long time that doesn't mean much to me other than that I have friends who don't eat meat on Fridays for some reason.

Do have a lovely Sunday and enjoy the sunshine!

Looks like a very holy area.

The universe DOES send us messages, but it's usually too subtle for me to understand what it's saying.

Love the photos!!!

And yeahm the universe communicates but we don't always get the message.

Dianne,
Those are beautiful photos...I beleive the universe speaks to us as well and I hear them saying, 'God is with us everywhere; not just in church!'

I have posted pix of interesting churches before and didn't know what to say because I didn't post it because of any religios conviction -- if I ever want to post one again, I may borrow your paragraph about seeing beauty every where, even in those things ...."

Loved the post. And I'm glad you had the photo in your files. But don't go out again without your camera. You might not have a picture of the next great thing you see ;>)

When you said 3 crosses, I thought 3 deaths because in Indonesia they mark street corners with crosses to show how many people have died there in road accidents. This pic is much more cheerful though!

It's pretty rare to see the churches built with the crosses on top any more, isn't it? One thing I find interesting are the many new foreign-language churches popping up. It isn't always division... sometimes it's just difference. Different can be good. :)

That's really special in a really cool way.

The Universe talks to me frequently and frankly, I don't like the tone it uses. Cheers Sexy!!

I think that you're right!

Yes the Universe speaks to us. Sadly it usually tells me things I don't want to hear. I like that the first church is called Trinity ;)

It's an epicenter of spiritual activity! *Excellent* eye for detail. That's something that I would have totally missed!

That is so freaking cool. Sometimes I also do believe that The Universe talks to us. Trying to figure out what the hell it is saying is the hard part. But in your case I think it’s “Everybody loves you!”

Ah synchronicity maybe?

When you said "three crosses," I thought you might be referring to the displays that many churches down here in the south put out during Lent: They set up three crosses, the largest in the center, all draped in purple, and usually with a sign quoting Lamentations 1:21, "Is it nothing to you, all ye who pass by?" I happen to like your three crosses better -- they just are where they are, to be seen and reflected upon by some, unnoticed by others on any day of the year, rather than a deliberate "photo-op" display.
