Mother's Day

Making the decision to have a child is momentous.  It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.  ~Elizabeth Stone

Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.  ~Oprah Winfrey

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.  ~William D. Tammeus

Other things may change us but we start and end with family.
~Anthony Brandt

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.
~ Mark Twain

There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it.
~Chinese Proverb

Yes, Mother. I can see you are flawed. You have not hidden it. That is your greatest gift to me. ~ Alice Walker

You do not really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother.

You got me right off the bat with the Elizabeth Stone quote. Yes!
And then the last one! My son Jake just recently wrote a letter to his grandmother, thanking her for a cash gift, and in it he attempted to explain his soccer supporter activities. He struggled, but he got it right.
Happy Mother's day, and Grandmother's day!

What a beautiful post!! Even though I'm a day late and a dollar short, as the saying goes. I hope your weekend was lovely.

I haven't heard that first quote before but it is very very true, even for those of us (of my generation and background) who didn't so much DECIDE as just have motherhood happen ;>) (I think you may relate to that.)
