and we hope you are too
I elected to go to the hotel inland. My son and his wife decided to stay at home with Hope. They did get a generator at the last minute on Saturday and it came in handy as power went on and off all through the night and all day Sunday. We lost power at the hotel but other than some soggy carpeting and unruly guests the stay there was fine. Isadora had a great time, Siren had a nervous breakdown - more about that later.
Some minor damage to the basement and the shed and some tree limbs down in the yard. We are very lucky.
I just got home and must make sense out of my space. We moved so much of the basement up onto the first floor and it's an obstacle course. My entire body is screaming from strained muscles. You haven't lived until you carry two fat cats in carriers through torrential rain.

Glad you are well! I was wondering how you made out in the storm!!
So good to hear words from you about your going to the hotel to ride out the storm! It's been good yesterday and today too as I've come across other bloggers I follow who live somewhere along Irene's path and I learn then that so far, only fairly minimal damage for those folks! What a relief that is! Buy some extra-strength Ben Gay to try to ease up on those sore muscles, my friend. Doesn't cure but sometimes, it does help a tiny bit in the relief department!
I'm so happy to hear you're all OK Dianne. x
Whewww...glad to hear you're safe!
I am SO glad you are all safe, Dianne!! What a mess it has to be!! I have been holding good thoughts for you all! Take care, don't overdo getting things back in place. I'm very good at telling others what to do and not to do -- not very good at following my own advice much of the time!!

I am so glad. Miles, Bailey Cassie and I send hugs. j
So glad to hear the good news that you and your family are okay!
We camped out in the living room with munchies and dvd's and rode it out. Some friends/family lost power and had basement issues but our electric stayed on and we only had minimal water downstairs. Very thankful!
Thank you for posting because I was thinking of you for the past two days and wondering how you and your family were.
Glad to hear you're safe, dear lady.
((((( Dianne )))))
X to you and the gang!
So glad you and yours are safe!!
Glad you came out of the storm in pretty decent shape. I was wondering about you and hoping it wasn't too bad there.

Good to hear that you didn't get a lot of damage and that you all are safe!
Glad to know you and yours are okay. sounds like you've got some clean up work ahead of you. Take care.
I'm happy to hear that all is okay with you and yours. I'm glad you were prepared but I'll bet you were still pretty worried about your family. Hugs to you, Di.
I'm glad you are all safe. Hope getting things back in order isn't too strenuous for you.
Hi Dianne ~~ I'm glad you are safe. I think you did the good thing by going to the hotel. It must have been scary at home. Scary for Hope too.
It is good that a generator came in. One of our neighbors have one, before next year's hurricane season we may get one. Bad thing is that the grocery stores, etc, run out of stuff or don't have power either so it is just plain eerie in the evenings.
..
We laughed at the fat cat thing, but we're glad you're OK and only suffering from minor inconvenience. let's hope this storm was a once in a lifetime thing.
What's the next disaster coming your way? I can't think of any you've missed so far.
Yes, yes. This is all well and good. But what we *really* want to know is...did you have a mini-bar in your room?
Very glad that you are safe and "relatively" unscathed. I was thinking about you as I watched all that rain. xxoo
Very glad to hear all is well, Dianne.
Oh, my dear, I am SOOOO Glad to know you came through "IRENE", relatively unscathed.....Some water damage, some trees down, two fat cats being carried creating sore screaming muscles---Well, I guess it could have been a lot worse! But, Thank God, it wasn't....!
How did HOPE take the whole Hurricane thing? Was she scared? I'm glad you went to the Hotel, even with Siren'sw nervous breakdown...! Now, you have to get everything back in it's place, I know---No Rest For The Weary!
Yayy! I am so glad that all is well with you. Other than those sore muscles and all the work to get back to normal again.
So glad you all made it thought okay ... xoxo
Glad you all came through without too many difficulties. Besides sore muscles & having to lug your stuff back into place...
glad all is well.
I was reading through some old comments today and thought I'd click through to see it you were still blogging. I'm glad you are ok Dianne and yes, I can actually relate to the carriers/cats and rain! Take care and rest up as soon as you can.
I have 4 blogs now, including 2 with Blogger.
Hugs, G
It is nice to hear that not only did you come through okay, you were prepared beforehand! Part of the muscle ache is probably the release from the stress you were holding. Relax for a day or two before trying too hard to get stuff back in place. Soak in hot tub with Epsom salts.
Sister and BIL (Nesconset) lost power for about 12 hours. Glad the storm broke up and didn't hit full strength
Glad you and yours are intact and relatively unscathed. Rest up. Pamper yourself some. It's good medicine.
I'm so glad you are OK. It's probably too late to say this (I am behind time as usual in reading), but don't try to put everything away all at once -- rest your back. We don't want you to get down again!
I was thinking about you and how the stress alone was going to set you back....hugs...Michelle
Been there!
Glad you are OK. Thanks for this post, friend.
