Siren's Storm Story

The Mom Person is very grumpy and tired. I know this because I am standing on the laptop and she just sighed and looked away. I am taking advantage of this to write my own post.

We had a hurricane here. I believe a hurricane has something to do with nature - wind and rain mostly although I have also observed that hurricane's scare people. I do not get scared. I become cautious - there is a difference.

Many things were turned upside down. All sorts of stuff came upstairs and is now all over the hall and Mom's bedroom. She keeps calling it "fucking crap" but I find it marvelous. There is so much to climb in and over and so much to smell and eat. Whenever I eat something I don't like I just throw it right back up. Isadora has copied this tactic from me. Maybe that is why Mom curses as she cleans up? Could there be such a thing as too much throw up?

Anyway

We have been home for 3 days now. We went to a hotel during the hurricane. It is much like a shelter for humans.

Isadora enjoyed the hotel right away ...

Isadora smelled every inch of the ugly carpet

From my strategic position under the bed I could see her ears were on alert

Later I moved to behind the drapes. I was NOT afraid but simply checking for drafts and leaks.
Isadora felt she should wait for me; it was kind of her.

Isadora also monitored the news feed. I wanted to switch to Animal Planet but the remote was not under the bed.

At the hotel strange humans come and give you trays. Isadora told me she thought the food dish was upside down but it appears that Mom ate her dinner anyway.

From my HQs under the bed I could hear Isadora above me. She seemed to like the strange bed and its exceptional roominess.

During the day on Sunday I did venture out to explore. It was quieter - the power stopped popping on and off, the wind wasn't howling and the hallway people were not running and yelling. I felt I could concentrate.

I know there is not another cat there as I cannot smell it but still -  mirrors freak me out.
Where exactly are things?

The hallway people were back. Mom said they were just nervous and probably drunk.
No wonder the hotel allows animals; without us all their guests would be screwed up.

I am so glad I did not miss this! Isadora is right, all this space is wonderful.

I was thrilled to be going home although I did not appreciate being treated as luggage.

Thanks for stopping by.
I need to go bury myself in some delicate crystal and claw at the bubble wrap.
Mom loves that.

OMG...you had me laughing my ass off through the whole thing!

"I have also observed that hurricane's scare people. I do not get scared. I become cautious - there is a difference."

HA! Spoken like a TRUE cat!

"I was thrilled to be going home although I did not appreciate being treated as luggage."

Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

That photo is PRICELESS!

And hey, I'm LOVIN' that hotel room of yours. It looks like the Ritz Carlton - VERY nice!

I wish I would have been there with you and the kitties because it looked like fun. My hurricane night was very boring and uneventful.

Meow!

X ya's!

Izadora looks like the mirror image of our Nemesis. It's eerily freaky...

"It is much like a shelter for humans."

Heh....genius!

Well, Siren has made my evening! She does know how to tell a great story! Glad you are all getting back to -- normal???? no, probably not, but at least on the way. Hope you don't have to dodge another one. Mostly I'm glad that all of you are safe and together again. You have been in my thoughts. Hugs to Hope, to Siren and Isadora and a big one to you! Have a great weekend!

I had to do a quick "look around" here to make sure our sweet kitten, Miss Pearl, was no where around to read this post and see your meanderings and especially to make sure she didn't get any more bright ideas to copy some of your tactics too. Clawing the bubble wrap, huh? Best not to talk about that or Pearl will be after that -if she can find any -here too!
Glad you're all back home now though and safe and sound!

A nasty experience for you all. I hope you get sorted out at home very soon. Living in a muddle quickly loses its allure.

Very good job on the post Siren. You might want to check with Mom again about the crystal and bubble wrap adventure. Glad you and Isadora were able to make the journey even being treated as luggage. Plus you will be glad to know that when we have to leave Slim alone in the house for any length of time, we turn on Animal Planet for her entertainment. Of course she is a dog so you probably don't give a flip.

I'm glad to hear you weren't afraid Siren. I can understand you being cautious though. I'll bet you are all glad to be home, so give mom a break and try to leave the bubble wrap and crystal alone okay?

Siren, you are quite talented! Glad to know that you and Isadora and Mom made it through the hurricane safely, and that you were so brave.
But yes, there is such a thing as too much throw up!

Shelly said...

Thanks for the update Siren! I was a little worried about you guys and your mom...
Oh ya...and take a break from that throwing up stuff - mom person is just plain worn out and cleaning up after you two? Seriously..enough is enough.

It was good that you were there with Mom and Isadora to keep them on the straight and narrow. And to think ... all that excitement, and you lived to tell the tale. Welcome home. :)

Linda said...

"Later I moved to behind the drapes. I was NOT afraid but simply checking for drafts and leaks." ... Uh-huh ... so how were the windows? Good and tight?

I think from now on I'm going to skip my own traveling adventures and send you to do them as I much prefer to reading about your hotel stays to writing about my own! And yours are a lot funnier, too!

Could you do me a favor and make sure that your Mom isn't still hauling crap back to the basement like I told her to stop doing? She needs a break so maybe you could also stop climbing all over it, ingesting bits and pieces, and then regurgitating that which you don't care for. I would be willing to bet that doing so would put a big smile on Mom's face.

Now, be a good fellow and go tell Isadora that I think she's very brave the way she handled the hurricane then go check your family tree, I think you may have had a chicken roosting in the branches!

Priceless. Hats off for keeping your sense of humor!

The mom person is very kind to allow this talented newcomer as a guest blogger!

Glad all three of you survived (even if all the fine crystal -- and maybe the carpets -- do not).

You were terribly brave and deserve to have roast chicken delivered to you on trays for the next few weeks. Glad you are all OK.
