The magazine just released the results of their poll - Hottest Women of All Time and ...
wait for it ...
Jennifer Aniston is Number 1. Hottest Woman of All Time.
Not this year, or in the suburbs, or among soccer Moms and/or Angelina Jolie (she was #10) haters. No.
Among the general readership.
Of ALL time. That's a lot of freakin' time folks.
According to the dictionary sexy and hot are pretty much the same thing. Did you know the word sexy was first used in 1925? The word hot dates back to the middle ages but I think it was in reference to fire, not people.
The rest of the top 5, that is those LESS hot than Jennifer are
Raquel Welch
Marilyn Monroe
Britney Spears - there's another head scratcher.
Madonna
So Jen is hotter than Raquel and Marilyn?
In what universe is that possible?
Don't get me wrong, I don't condone reducing people to labels based on their physicality but they do this to men too and supposedly 'hot' means more than just appearance.
Of ALL time!?
And she still looks amazing today at 70 something
And she's interesting
A legend - plain and simple - a legend
OK, Jennifer can go above Britney but then again Britney can sing and dance so never mind
A risk taking chameleon who could make herself into a better version of Jennifer if she wanted to
Which once again begs the question. Jennifer Aniston? Really?

Jennifer Aniston? What?
Hmmm, none of them would make my top five!
I'm not a huge fan of Aniston but I would like to give credit to the idea that of all the people considered hot this decade she would still be gorgeous. She looks natural. Her whole body is real and beautiful. Naturally hers. She has great bone structure and a sweet sense about her that she could be your friend. Not some over-processed piece of meat or character. She is also a decent actress. Not amazing but decent. Also, she isn't crazy. Marilyn, Brittany, and Madonna are all known for being a bit wacko. So, I personally always go for the crazy people but I'll give credit to the voters for picking what seems like a real woman to me.
I don't get it. Sorry. One wonders how many men ACTUALLY Voted on this...???
"Of All Time".....to me, that covers a huge span of time and this list sounds totally 21st Century and truly LAME!
Interesting comment from 'Knight'. It does add perspective. But....?
Knight said it perfectly.
The things is, it must depend on who you are asking (i.e. who the readership of this magazine is) and when you ask them (2011 or 1969?). Attitudes and ideals change and I expect the Victorians may have thought that Queen Victoria was pretty 'hot' (I don't know, I'm just wondering). Aside from the fact that all this is a bunch of nonsense that horrible reduces women to mere objects, I'd probably have to say that none of them would get in my top 5, although, being a man in 2011 I would put Jennifer above the rest of them. Perverse? Maybe. Personally, none of them are my type. Who said Zoe Deschanel?
I should clarify, Aniston wouldn't even make my top 50 list of hottest women of all time. She isn't my type. But I do get why the general male public would vote for her. Thank Jeebus it wasn't a Kardashian was my point.
Jennifer Aniston seems like a nice enough person and is very pretty. Great legs and great hair, so that's a plus. But, sexiest of all time? Ummm .. I don't think so.
I've always loved Raquel Welch and Ann Margaret myself. But, I know this is all subjective.

Well, I wouldn't vote for Marilyn Monroe for dogcatcher, and I think I can understand why men like Jennifer Aniston: she looks more approachable than Marilyn Monroe or Sophia Loren or Elizabeth Taylor. She actually looks like she could be a friend! Just sayin'!

She's more of a "girl next door" type (which she gets casts as anyways) then hotness or sexyness of all time. I was puzzled, too :)
Nobody asked me for my vote but I would vote for Sophia Loren, Helen Mirrin, Ertha Kitt and Elizabeth Taylor would be Number 1. But then what do I know?
I find it curious, also, but then again, beauty contests of any kind I find a bit like something Margaret Mead would have studied. Tells something about the culture, in any event. Ideas of female pulchritude are just that: ideas.
I have never understood her enormous popularity. She sure has parlayed a lot of light comedies and a crappy love life into mega fame.
I'm not a man, but I do like women, so I'm going to chime in with my top five: Emmylou Harris, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Jett, Helen Slater and Mary Tyler Moore. Every one of them is talented and gorgeous, and the last two are seriously funny as well.
Britney Spears? Me no get. I simply do not see the appeal there. And I agree that the people taking part in this survey failed to go back in time a bit. Just off the top of my head I can think of Audrey Hepburn, Barbara Eden, Joan Jett (thanks, Fireblossom!), Phoebe Cates, Bernadette Peters, Helena Bonham Carter. Talent and beauty abound here. Why settle for modern mediocre?
I for one believe Jennifer is still getting "sympathy votes" because Brad dumped her and the editor of the Men's Health magazine is probably a woman.
Let's talk about men: John Wayne, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Clint Walker, James Arness. WooHoo! (Okay I'm old...)
From the moment I saw her...YUP!
What can I say? The rest pale by comparison.
It wasn't really when I first saw her, it was when she was a guest on the morning show "Breakfast Time" with Tom Bergeron. The show was freaking hilarious and almost completely un-scripted and only lasted a short time, but the way she was simply "herself" on that crazy set with Tom and crew impressed me so much that it was "that moment" that I fell in love with her.
Came here by way of Vent, and am very glad I did. Very "hot" topic. While Aniston is indeed the "girl next door" type, I don't think they should rate in any Top 5. Sally Field never got there in my generation. Then again, Jayne Mansfield did. Sizzle. But, yes, another nut case. I will be back again! EFH
That was a head-scratcher for me too. Says more about the average age (and possibly, the sexual preferences) of Men's Health readers.
Not that there's anything...etc.
Marilyn belongs, and I was one of those 15-year-olds with Raquel's One Million BC bikini poster, so she'd make my top 10.
Dang it, Dianne! Now you got me pondering making my own list.
But for any attached and heterosexual man, those are dangerous waters to tread. Dangerous, indeed....
I don't see it either. She has no character in her face, even when she is acting, her face doesn't really change.I guess there just weren't enough mature men with taste reading the magazine.
you are very right.
I don't get it either! Marilyn Monroe yes, yes, yes - she really was hot and sexy.
There’s no accounting for taste. But I suspect exposure has something to do with how taste is cultivated. I recently sampled a $150 bottle of champagne at a holiday liquor store tasting and found that I preferred the ones in the $30 – 40 category.
Jeniffer Aniston first invaded our living rooms in Friends and went on to star in various uninspired box office hits. I think pop culture and media distribution has everything to do with arrested development in our culture.
In arriving at my own list, I experienced a definite tug between attraction vs. appreciation. There are women who are stunning head turners, most of whom I would not consider to be beauties.
And then, there is always the subjective element when it comes to aesthetics.
For what it’s worth my list:
Sophia Loren
Sema Hayek
Ingrid Bergman
Cecily Tyson
Setsuku Hara
They may have 1.4 million readers but the poll could have been done by a mere few. How many mature men do you know who would ever bother to answer a magazine poll like that?
Either MH readers want The Girl Next Door (JA's image) or some PR agency paid a lot of $$$ to make that happen!
It is interesting who wins all these things. I am sure there are lots of ins and outs to all of it. Besides who cares. LOL.
(stopping over from Vent).....my husband has, for years, commented on how NOT sexy he thinks Aniston is! He doesn't even think she's all that attractive, but it could be because he thinks her personality is a dud.
Honestly I'm with you - I just don't get it at all. And somehow I'm thinking that Brad Pitt wasn't one of the men they asked about this, ya know??
