Dogs in the City

is a TV series that premiered this past Wednesday on CBS.

The one hour show features segments about dogs and their humans. In the first episode we met ...

Charlotte - she has an aggression issue and has bitten both dogs and people several times. Her human, a very stubborn and opinionated young woman, insists on continuing to bring Charlotte to work each day regardless of the risk.

My favorite scene is when the dog trainer sits on the floor in the corner to watch over the new behavior he has suggested to the human only to have her still screw up.

Then there's a newly married couple and their bulldog Beefy. Beefy belonged with the husband before the wife came into the picture and Beefy is not at all pleased with being part of a couple of humans. He will not walk on his leash for her and barks incessantly when the couple goes to bed.

The third segment is especially lovely. A retired NYPD detective and his young daughter have a giant dog named Rosie. They are concerned that Rosie is too fat and need help in feeding her better and giving her more exercise.

There are so many things to love about this show - the dogs, wonderful scenes of NYC and even the humans.

And Justin

Justin Silver is a stand up comedian who turned his love for dogs into a business and a charity. Justin has a company called The Language of Dogs and is founder of  Funny for Fido  where he brings comedians together to raise money for grants to animal rescue organizations.

Although he is official human to two dogs - Chiquita and Pacino, Justin fosters many homeless dogs and will often take in a dog he is working with until he feels sure that the situation is safe and happy for both the dog and the dog's people.

After watching the first episode of his show and seeing him interviewed many times I will admit to absolutely adoring this guy. He's a born NYer. He has an incredibly big warm smile, not to mention incredibly big shoulders and arms. While he definitely has a bit of NY swagger and attitude he is so patient and loving. Especially with the humans who are so often the cause of dog issues.

So take a look at Dogs in the City - Wednesday at 8 PM EST on CBS.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'll have to go see if I can get this on line. The expression of the dog in the first picture is so sweet, it's hard to believe she's a biter. And you're right: that last dog is really BIG! :-)

I'm just scared stiff of all dogs. I think I have some unresolved issues with one from my childhood. :D

Oh, I'm not really even a dog person any more, but I love this post! I'll have to try to remember to check this out when I get back home.

If you don't love the dogs you would certainly love the dog trainer! :)

Dianne, I can't thank you enough for sharing this post about this new TV show because being someone who does not watch television, I had no idea it even existed. And it sounds AWESOME!

LOVED the story of Beefy! OMG...that photo of him on the skateboard with his human is PRICELESS!

"He will not walk on his leash for her and barks incessantly when the couple goes to bed."

Oh, how FUNNY!

And a wonderful photo of Austin and the dogs. The dogs actually look as though they're SMILING from happiness!

"While he definitely has a bit of NY swagger and attitude he is so patient and loving."

And THAT'S what I adore about NYer's! They may appear rough on the outside, but on the inside they're some of the most loving, honest, and genuinely caring people I've ever met!

Great post, dear lady!

(((( You ))))

X ya!

I caught an episode of that show, and I agree - it's a keeper. The host is so personable. I can see why dogs love him too.

We watched that same episode, and we were hooked. Lindy looked at it briefly before falling asleep on my feet. Oh, could we ever see ourselves on there a few times! We will definitely watch again.

Since I am on a ROAD TRIP (yeah) I have my DVR set to catch it at home. But fortunately I was able to catch it at the motel - Andy you are right. The show is great and I love it. I wanted him to just ream the woman in the office out but he was a gentleman.

Made me miss my Miss Molly and I can't wait to get back to her.

Does Hope have a dog yet? Hugs, j

Since I got my PVR, I don't watch anything live anymore. I did happen to catch a glimpse of the ads for this and meant to watch it, but seem to have missed it. I will now go to my PVR and remedy that.

I watched, too, and was surprised at how much I liked it. Even if it IS a reality show.

I missed the premiere of this on Wed, but that's 'cause I didn't get home until around 10 PM that day. So, we have the NYC Dog Whisperer, eh? That's cool. I think that this country is big enough for two, esp as Caesar is on the West Coast. ;)

Looks like a great show. I don't think it airs where I live though.

There's new Cesar in town :) Forgot to watch. Must tune in this Wed.

I had intended to watch this but remembered in time to just catch a bit of it. I must say that it does appear the owners are the problems and not the dogs. It does look like a good show and I'm going to try to watch it every week.

I wish more dog owners would watch programs such as this one. It's often not a bad dog's fault that it acts so unruly!

On our way this week to Colorado t visit our dog-loving/owning kids there -- bet we'll be watching that show!

Seems more entertaining that that darn cat show and the bald guy with the funky-cut beard and obnoxious glasses. Why does the wife make me watch it?

Wish they had this in Malaysia. I sometimes think that pet owners should take an IQ test before being allowed to adopt. But I also think that of people who have kids. Guess my Galton-ish tendencies are showing!

That does look like a good show. Might have to try to watch that. Thanks for the review.

Oh.. a new dog whisperer! I need a PVR! Those pooches are beauties and that Great Bernese looks as sweet as can be.. much like the little girl.

This is a sweet post. You did a nice reviewing job, and your love of animals shines through. You know, the web is SO big! It's way too easy to lose people we want to stay connected with. In that light, I really appreciate your kind visit & comments at my blog! Thanks friend.

Enjoy your week!

Sounds like a winner. I'll try to keep the show in mind.

Although I grew up with dogs and cats and had one or both most of my life, it's only in the past four or five years that I feel I've really come to understand them. Sounds like I could learn even more from this dude.

Thanks for the heads-up Dianne. :)
