Public areas in town are decorated with planters full of seasonal flowers
Private residences are encouraged to sign up for garden walks to show off their blooms
Members of the garden club were setting up at the gazebo. There were maps of the walking tours and demonstrations of various planting techniques along with plant sales and activities for children. The gazebo and town square above it (where I was standing) are adjacent to the marina so boaters were out and a helicopter was buzzing about.
Most of the activities were scheduled for 11 AM to 3 PM but I had already been out since 7 AM so I avoided the heat and the crowds. Before I left I did go in search of one of the butterflys
Plant a flower
Hug a tree

What a fun and colourful way to spend the day. I'm glad you found one of the flutterbys. :)
What a lovely group of photos, Dianne!
Bright! Colorful! Happy!
Aren't flowers amazing? They always look like they're smiling, which in turn causes ME to smile :)
I clicked over on the butterfly link to check it out. How cool is that!
Hope you had a marvi Monday! And hey, I heard it's going to be much cooler this week, here on the east coast. Thank god!!!!!
X to you and gang!
Beautiful sights. Fantastic way to spend the day.
Great way to spend a weekend! Flowers and trees make me happy :)
Hugs from Ohio,

Great photos! Reminds me of what's currently going on downtown San Diego near the bay. Lots of color sprouting from the ground!
a wonderful event in a beautiful place! beautifully captured!
Beautiful! I really enjoyed these pictures...
I've been "hugging" a lot of grand old trees lately. I'll be returning to my garden soon. I think it misses me.
A fantastic way to spend the day indeed and what gorgeous flowers and terrific captures, Dianne!! I love them! What a wonderful day you must have had! Have a great week! Hugs to Hope!

Pretty stuff! The way the stuff is planted is just as interesting as the plants themselves. :)

Glorious photos of a glorious event!
Here they call the walking tours "open gardens". Partly because English gardens are often very small compared with American ones, so there wouldn't be too much walking! But they pack a lot of imagination and design in a small space. Also local people usually provide tea and cakes which are better than what you'd get in the shops!
Beautiful show!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
That's a nice idea. Lovely photo Dianne.
What a great community event. Love the butterfly.
Lovely, beautiful flowers..
Visiting for Our World Tuesday- hope you can stop by:)

Our local gardening club pretties up our downtown and around the lake here too. It always looks so nice and they work so hard on it for very little recognition.

So beautiful, my dear...Spring is my favorite time of the year---So much new growth and lovely flowers...So much hope....And, Butterfly's too....!
Those gardens and flowers are beautiful! Since I'm the death knell for anything that grows in the dirt, I always appreciate people that have the talent to create beautiful gardens! Thanks for sharing!
What lovely weather, it's pissing down with rain here again.
The butterfly looks so good there.
I could do with some of those planters in our back garden.
Oh I want one of those butterflies.. what beautiful weather you had and the gardens are beautiful ..so neat and so unlike my garden.. I thought of you when I was talking to the woman about D-Con, I hope they all die and stink up her shed...Oh there goes my resolution again..but these idiots keep crossing my path..hugs.. to you and Hope...Michelle
How gorgeous! There is something wonderful about summer in the north away from the oppressive heat of the south. I'm really enjoying it here. My front door is actually open in June. I have a screen door! It's like having the keys to the prison door. Whee!
The last two pictures look like the capcha images we're getting on google these days.
Beautiful flowers and lovely series of photos. The gazebo is in a great place near the water. Thanks for sharing, have a great day!
Beautiful flowers and gardens. The butterfly is wonderful and I like the effect you used on the helicopter.
All those colorful flowers and butterflies and boats and people and water sure do brighten things up. Compare to dead of winter!
Looks like fun. What was the helicopter buzzing about? Probably DHS keeping track of especially recalcitrant citizens!
Looks like it was a great day! I love the big blue hydrangeas! Nice photo of those!
This is so cool! Lends such a nice feeling to anyone who stops by. Thanks for sharing this, Dianne!
great pictures of those beautiful flowers!
What a fun event with such beautiful flowers to look at.
Sounds like fun! The gardens/flowers are so beautiful! Love that you included the giant butterfly!:)
