The radicals in this country who condem all Islam are just as bad as the Islamic radicals who are attacking our embassies. They don't represent "real" Christians (followers of Jesus' teachings) any more than those others represent "real" Islamics..
I do so agree with Jays comment! And just how can people justify their violent actions as being "for God"???? Sorry, makes NO sense to me whatever. And all of this over a stupid, ridiculous film that does not represent us!!!
I do wonder at things. People should be able to say things that are offensive to religion without other people dying. We should defend their right to say what they're going to say, and other people should be civilized enough to say that this is offensive, mean and disgusting with their words.
What I've heard from people who have lived in the Middle East is that they have not yet had their "Protestant Reformation" so to speak. They have not as a society gotten to the point where each person can take the scriptures and evaluate their claims openly, even to the point of saying, "I don't believe this." You cannot just stand on a streetcorner there and declare that there is no God if you value your life. So the Muslims who are standing up to these terrorists have to be much braver than we have to be speaking out against violence here.
BTW, Dianne, in relation to your comment on the blog, my son "Emperor" has an extreme form of tibial torsion and walks a bit crooked. He walks well but cannot swim and his running is quite awkward. He may never learn to ride a bike. It is a case in which the surgeon said he really leaves it up to the patient as it does not get worse over time.
Did you know your story inspired me to get him help though??? I snuck over to this surgeon too as two doctors kept telling me NOTHING was wrong. Well, yes, something IS. Thankfully not so bad and nothing needs to be done, but was tired of being blown off.
I just didn't want him to be twisted and in pain forever. Turns out he is a little twisted in the legs and he is ok but we'll watch him!! There is surgery to correct it but for now I am thinking we will let him grow and decide later as sometimes these things correct a little as the child grows, and we don't know HOW MUCH it will correct until later. :)
But anyway. Thank you. I'm sorry you live your life in pain, but it did inspire me to make triple sure he was ok so he doesn't as well...
I'm still upset with the dude from California! Of course he's not the only reason they are mad, but still... I'm not saying I was on the same boat as them, but pretty close. So many years under communist dictatorship. Then you have freedom and democracy next day and don't know what to do with it. People and their thinking does not change just because their regime changed...It takes years. Many years and a generation or two. Anyhow... Hugs from Ohio, I.

Great post, Dianne. And thank you for sharing it.
Another blogging friend of mine posted something about this a few days ago and it totally broke my heart.
I agree with Jay's comment above.
Again, thank you for sharing this, dear lady.

so heartening. now why aren't Americans doing this with signs that say that ridiculous film does not represent us?
The people who attacked the embassy are basically the Middle East's version of the Tea Party.

True that. Thank you.
These sign carriers need to multiply.

Great post! Well done!
Indeed, Indeed, my dear. I had seen these signs and was so glad 'the people' were speaking up!
Thanks for this, Dianne!

I had not seen coverage like this. Thank you for posting it. It certainly makes me feel better.
Thanks for posting this. I had not seen anything like it, and it's very heartening to see.

The minority always spoil it for the majority don't they?

Well done Diane!

It is nice to see people stand up against the extremists in their community. I'm not a fan of Silent Majorities.
Hey, is Siren OK? Why does she have to go to the vet twice a month? Sounds awful for you both.
Why do you suppose it is rare that we see these particular photos in our media?
