Maybe it's spring fever. Maybe they can understand the late news and are as distressed as the rest of us.
Whatever the reason, Siren and Isadora have spent the past few nights/early mornings rampaging.
They run the length of the hall at warp speed.
They knock over their water bowl and dance - yes, dance - in the puddles.
Isadora tries to get under the area rug; it's heavy and rubber matted underneath so when she fails she scratches at it as though she were digging her way out of an underground bunker. Siren enjoys watching this. He doesn't help, just watches.
I know it's coming to an end when they chase each other around the backs of the sofa and love seat. They weave in and out, intentionally not catching each other. It's just the chase that matters.
Then it's time to rest up for breakfast.
Isadora uses the last of her energy to settle into the clothes hamper.
Siren curls up in one of their homes.
Have a safe and happy weekend everybody.
My thoughts are with everyone in and near Boston.

Animals sense things. Whether it is the weather or something else Miss Molly has been clingy and spent much of this week on my lap. I hope things are going well for you Hugs. j
I love your FB Good Morning Everybody's. Just wanted to tell you that, since it's almost always one of the first in my feed when I log in. And I'm so glad your kitties are frenzied (and healthy) beasts. :-)
Harry's return from hospital led Jack to hiss/growl at his strange/scary smell ... Harry spent 2 days being not quite himself .. this morning he's back, he's feisty, he's chasing Jack all over the apartment ... why did i ever think Harry would stay mellow?
Hugs to you and your fabulous cats ..
Yes, as Jay shared, I also think animals 'sense' things because they are extra sensitive to energy.
As I was reading this post, I couldn't help but recall the times when my cats would do the same thing. And like Siren and Isadora, they always seemed to do this at night.
LOVE the photo of Isadora in the clothes hamper!
Have a happy weekend, dear lady.
(((((( You )))))))
Much X to you, Hope, Siren, and Isadora!
All cats, well animals generally seem to have what we call "mad moments". The last time one of our cats had one, she got a a plastic bag caught around her neck, thought it was someone chasing her and pissed all over the carpet.
Have a safe and peaceful weekend.
What a fun post. I could imagine it all, having once had two cats myself.
The recent news, as transmitted to the cats through your feelings, has undoubtedly had some effect on them. Pets are very sensitive to our feelings.
A friend once brought his wife to see me about something or other, I forget what, but I remember his daughter had just died unexpectedly.
Restless, he picked up my cat Herman and went into the living room, leaving his wife to talk to me in the kitchen.
After some time, we went to see how he was. He had fallen asleep, sitting up, head back, with Hermie stretched full-length upon his chest, one paw on each shoulder.
We left them as they were and went back to our coffee. The cat's unconditional purring hug had done its job.

I use to love it when my cats went kind of Nutso---What a great way to work off all kinds of energy and anxiety. Cats are the most sensitive creatures....They DO pick up what is happening around them and you....
I re-posted something about all of my cats that I wrote in 2006....And I'm getting another post ready about one of them that speaks right to the issue of sensitivity...
Have a GOOD weekend, my dear, and HUGS to ALL....especially HOPE!!
Kitties control their worlds quite well, don't they? Often much to our amusement. Here at the Reeder homestead Josy Fuzzbutt is quite annoyed that it is raining again. she doesn't like to get her feet wet when she goes outside.
I love that about cats... their crazy frenzy. It seems to start out of nowhere but they all know the rules rather well. My guys used to indulge in kitty craziness but Zephyr started to lose interest a few years back - being the lazy old thing that he is. Enter Benny. Skitty couldn't be happier. Your babies are just gorgeous. Like you.
Exactly the reason we don't have inside cats. Not only do our barn cats rampage on occasion with our dog Slim joining in, so do our guinea fowl. Constant entertainment out our windows. This was an enjoyable post picturing their antics. Perhaps they were sensing your angst over the hunt for the bombing perps.
Fitting and well said. This has been a sad week!
Your kitties are so cute and playful! My cat is up in age and I miss his antics. He spends most of the day sleeping. Breakfast ids the only highlight of his day..lol!
Sounds like they're having fun together!
Such a funny couple of felines. I think our pets can sense when something is out-of-whack, but then again, cats have a knack for having fun just for the fun of it!
Hope all goes well with you and your family!
Hey, at least your cats are "morning cats". Our Nemesis is more like a 4pm - 4:30pm cat. The rest of the time you can find her snuggled up on the bed. Heh...
