I really hope it's OK to double post LOL
I get very worried about arbitrary rules at times.
I couldn't decide which I wanted to post and they're both connected through nature so here they are.
A storm was rolling over my house on its way to the Bay.
I was hobbling around the yard shooting stuff out of boredom and frustration. I cropped this one and sharpened it a bit. I wish I had realized what I had, I would have taken the leaves out of the stump. They take away from this looking (to me) like another planet.
UPDATE: I tried recreating the shot this morning, same time as when I originally took it, same weather, same light. It didn't happen. The blue is not there. The ridges don't look as pronounced. It just didn't happen. Which has made this shot more special to me. I have decided another world does indeed exist in my yard. My sweet girls Knight & Jo will know what this means. Jo - the portal is clearly open. Knight - just take the railroad, you're closer. I'll pick you up at the station!
HAPPY SKY WATCH All
and
Hey! BE CREATIVE .

Woo hoo! first first first
(Sorry, but I was 73rd on the last post for Ruby Tuesday)
I love the storm clouds shot. The stump does look like a planet, or maybe an aerial view of a crater.
A wise man once said "Know what the rules are, so you know best how to break them". Well done.
Not many arbitrary rules here. Lots of people post two or more pictures. They did print rules at the beginning of this week's Sky Watch.
Your photos are great. Those are some mean looking storm clouds!
Hi Dianne! Hey rules were made to be broken. Very interesting sky. I love it. Lisa
It took me a bit to realize what this bottom photo is. I read your post and looked and looked. I think what threw me was the stump looks like it has been painted a blue color. Surprises never cease in photography.
My SkyWatch Friday photos are on my Canon Pixels Blog.
You never know when a great photo might happen...so shoot away! LOL
Happy Sky Watch!
I like that second one alot. Pretty awesome :)
A great sky (I hope the storm wasn't too bad) and a creative shot (boredom is often useful to come to something creative ;-), I hadn't seen it was a stump.
You double yp as much as you like if you are going to be this creative. Marvellous shots.
Both really neat photos!!!
Great job.
Love love love that second photo.
Bear((( )))
It took me a few moments of looking at the stump photo before my brain could tell me what it was. Very cool!
Great photos, both.
I agree with Patti. That stump looks like the pic was taken from outer space. Very cool!
In the sky shot, the shape of the clouds looks like the cloud is close to devouring the remaining blue sky...like the upper and lower jaws are that well defined. I see different things in the clouds...the interpretation of cloud formations differs so widely among us.
And it is a beautiful sky, even if stormy weather is on the way. Nice!
patti - you make me laugh!! yes a crater, I think that's what I meant when I said planet LOL
linda - that's a great quote ;)
bobbie - I read them, they didn't say no combined posts - I'll have to find a new rule to break.
Did you hear about the huge lightening stikes in Colts Neck, I guess a month ago - these clouds are from that storm.
lisa - that's what I say! :)
abraham lincoln - after I saw the blue I went back to check out the stump. It's a bit green mossy and slimy but not blue. I think it was the light reflecting from the pool.
eg tour guide - that's my motto too :)
mahala - thanks! my own personal crater
hildegarde - storm passed right over us. :)
babooshka - thanks!! cool thing to say.
crystalchick - thanks :)
bear - it just happened! lol
meno - thanks! that's what I love about it, makes people ask what the hell is it :)
thanks larry d :)
jay - I know! I have no idea how I did it lol
ralph - that's what my son said! he pointed that out while I was shooting in the opposite direction :)
Beautiful sky and great shot of the stump :0)
It took a while for me to figure out what I was seeing in the 2nd shot.
Very cool stump.
Tho, I like the clouds that part to let the sun shine.
Great shots! the clouds are slowly eating up the skies! =)
My SWF pictures are here and here. Happy weekends!
rules? what rules? You are free to do whatever you please, Dianne! Lets make that a rule. Great sky shot...!! and the wood looks very bizzare...
Cheers,
Scotty
Second photo, I had to read what you'd written to see that it was a stump; it seemed sort of planetary to me, too. Oh, and I LOVE the Fork Goddess photo. Cracks me up - she da bomb! :D
Tink *~*~*
My Mobile Adventures *~*~*
Beautiful sky, the stump is fascinating and very cool. Glad you are able to move around more. Have been meaning to ask how your leg is doing.
thanks ellen!
nina - that's what I love about the 2nd shot! I didn't even know what I captured at first :)
shutterhappy - that storm was relentless!
scotty - thanks!! I like that rule LOL
bizarre wood - that will be its title :)
tink - I LOVE my fork goddess :) thanks!!
raven - I'm OK for small trips LOL
and I can drive, I just can't get out once I get there !! OY!
Evidence of a storm brewing capture. Nice one!
Cool photos, you never know when great photos are going to happen, that is part of the fun of sky watch friday is keeping your eyes open all the time, that and sharing your finds with everyone.
Thanks for your kind comments on my post earlier.
nice capture! what a beautiful sky. Thanks for sharing..
Magnificent sky! And the leaves in the stump don't bother me at all.
I love the cloud shape!
Another planet indeed - an exploding star maybe - what a great capture.
Glad to hear you were out in the yard.
Great storm cloud and the stump stumped me for a minute. Have a great weekend.
Cheers
Dianne..I hope you are coping Ok with your injury..I guess hobbling is the right word..Interesting second photo...
I actually stopped reading your post to see if I could guess what the second picture was-I thought it was aerial shot of something on the ground, but tree stump didn't come to mind. I love those photos that make you think!
Hope you are doing well! How is the foot these days?? Still hobbling about, I see.
I like both of these photos, but for different reasons. It's good NOT to be locked into just one style or type of subject matter.
Nice shots.
Very nice pictures.
Your cloud photo is wonderful, but I really like the stump. Planet worked, crater from outer space, it looks very cool.
be creative - and you are
love the tree trunk
I confess that second shot stumped me.
Very special
Beautiful pictures!
Very nice shots:)
Love the sky, the darker areas remind me of a watercolour wash.
I am staring at your stump. I guess one doesn't often see stumps on photo blogs. Interesting subject matter!
And your sky post looks like it is going to eat us up the way those clouds are rolling along.
I love those leaves in the bottom of the stump.
Very nice sky, Dianne...It looks ready to eat the ground up.
Until I read what you said about #2 being a stump I thought it a satellite shot of some unknown (to me) earth terrain.
Very nice. I had to look at the second one for a while before I could figure out what it was.
napaboaniya - it turned into one hell of a storm too :) thanks
pearl - this is only my 2nd SW. I love sharing the photos, SW folks are so friendly :)
norm - thank you!!
louise - I just think the leaves take away from it looking other wordly lol
I tried recreating the shot, didn't happen - I find that wonderfully odd.
carletta - thanks!! my cane is my new best friend although it makes it hard to shoot the camera, lots of leaning going on :)
fish whisperer - what a great name!! and "stump stumped me" LOL
you have a way with words.
michelle (rambling) - I have taken walking like a drunken sailor to a new height lol
snoop - I love mystery shots as well. this one is a mystery even to me.
bobbie in hawaii - a photography teacher once told me my shots looked like the work of 5 different people. I thought it was a criticism but he said it was a compliment lol
ilanadavita - thanks :)
antigoni - glad you like them!
reb - I like the stump a lot too! I have no idea how it came to be.
medi kiwi - thanks!! I really appreciate that.
aileni - I stumped even you! cool!!
runee - thanks :)
vincibene - thank you
pernille - thank you :)
me ann - the darker areas are prettier to me too, the storm clouds were determined to take over.
leora - I'm bringing stump photography back!! lol
the clouds reminded me a bit of a scary movie.
hyde - thank you!! 1 vote for the leaves!! you're very kind.
eddie - it did look ominous, a bit like War of the Worlds only Tom Cruise was missing.
mark - COOL!! that is what I thought I had captured. Perhaps there is an other world going on in my yard.
neal - thank you for trying to figure it out :)
Those are not leaves! They are the dried up husks of alien bodies (may they rest in Nanoo nanoo peace).
When you were describing fixing the shot and not knowing what you had, I was still looking at the sky pic. I started trying to find "what you had" in the sky... desperately looking for the cloud animals or something.
Yeah, I am going to go find a highly caffeinated beverage now.
Have a great weekend.
Your photo is my sky right now!!! Huge rain is coming in the next hours...
Thanks for your visit. I like both of these. The heavy clouds with their promise of that wonderful wet stuff, and the tree stump. I had to study that pic for a while, because I didn't figure it out at first. Gee, you made me think this morning... thanks!
Incredible! No rules, just shoot! Happy Skywatch :)
jennifer - I LOVE the way you think! Nanoo Nanoo Peace is fitting.
have a great weekend too! :)
marina - it's beautiful isn't it, make sure to take some shots before the deluge and then stay dry and safe
craver - first thing in the morning thinking! Oh No!! I'm sorry lol
Your blog is so much fun, one of my favorite SW finds.
tanya - thanks!! I was concerned about posting 2 projects at once but the stump shot appears to be a hit :)
You think outside the box, I love that in a person. And great photos. The sky was a beauty but your log was so creative. It took me a couple of looks to try and figure out what it was then I read your post. Lesson learned, read first - lol. It takes me a while to stop putting that square peg in the round hole :)))
The sky is beautiful! I love sunsets, sunrises, and clouds! Your's looks to have a silver lining inside! Pretty!!!
And, the tree stump? If that is what it is? Looks like you could journey to the center of the earth through it. Or, as if there is another life form and world living with in (guess I watch too many kid videos).
Happy Friday!
It's a great shot and does seem a bit other worldly.
You are extremely creative! And I notice that you are interested in the same issues I am. Thanks for your visit. Have a great weekend.
I only look up at the sky when Superman's flying by. Otherwise, it's eyes front. heh heh.
Nice shots. I really liked the second one.
Rules? We dont need no stinkin' rules ... sssssssssh ...
:-Daryl

pinoy - NJ is one massive collection of overhead wires!! I have learned to just incorporate them.
Ok...I got confused at first about the planet talk....then I scrolled down.
Holy shit!! that is one of the greatest photos I've seen. Srsly!!!
I'm thinking that should be framed.
and keep breaking those rules gal...that's what they're for don't cha know!!
Cheers!
Great pictures the first one looks a bit scary. Thanks for coming by my site.
Very nice - I love that I don't ever see the same sky twice. The changing of it is what make SWF work!
j'adore la deuxième photos
FABULOUS Shot, Dianne....! It still look like another plant, even with the leaves....!
WAY COOL DIANNE
I love the sky shot and the stump...it is another world...
I combined Ruby Tuesday and Creative Photo using the same picture...the hell with the rules!
I saw the picture before I read your comments and i really had no idea what it was. it is a real optical illusion - it took a while for me to see the stump - very clever - I liked it alot!!!!

Nice combo Di! You hot multitask'er! :D
Both these pictures are good but I really like the second one,it is the sort of picture where you can let your imagination run riot!
