A Mother's Day Wordzzle

It's time for another one of RAVEN’S Wordzzle Challenges.

Ten Word Challenge: gentle spring rain, mammoth, soap opera, worry, bubble gum, garden gate, seizure, of Biblical proportions, paralysis, wrinkles
Mini Challenge: operatic, stuffed animals, anger management, biographical, paint splatters

A gentle spring rain was falling as Missy Mammoth slammed the garden gate and stormed down the walk. “Oh give me a break” her sister Muffy screamed, “not everything has to be a soap opera. Why must you worry so much about every little thing?” Missy felt that she would have a seizure of rage, rage of Biblical proportions, rage that turned skies black and made birds shriek in terror. “Why must I worry so much?” she screamed back, “why!? Because you suffer from paralysis of the mind, because you are thoughtless and selfish and destructive. That is why!”

The sound of window shutters crashing open stunned both girls into silence. The intimidating figure of their mother Matilda Mammoth filled the window. “After all the money I spent on anger management camp for the two of you my serene Sunday mornings are still being pierced by horrid operatic rants. No wonder my stress wrinkles are deepening.”

Muffy stood very still staring down at her feet but Missy was not about to go unheard. “She got paint splatters all over my term paper. And I had just finished all the biographical data charts on all the Presidents. And she put bubble gum in the fur of my favorite stuffed animals.” Mama Mammoth pointed out to Missy that her paper could easily be reprinted and told Muffy to do what she had to do to get every last piece of gum out of the fur. “Is it settled now?” she asked in a weary voice. Both girls nodded. Muffy, realizing she was in the wrong, pointed out that it was Mother’s Day and asked Mama Mammoth what she would like for her special day.

"Peace and quiet and for my girls to get along” Mama said as she closed the window. “And a one way ticket to Vegas” she mumbled when she knew the girls couldn’t hear her.

Anyone who cares for a child is – a saint and a warrior.
To do it well you must be – intuitive and clever and have the stamina of an army
To forgive yourself for the mistakes you make you need – truth and grace
To forgive them for the mistakes they make you need – love, just love.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Delightful as always! And a wise post script. Happy Mother's Day! I hope you are given the blessings you deserve and that you feel the love that I know is there - even when it sometimes hides it's face.

I think Lisa would wish for "peace" and "quiet" too. Having them both at the same time would be an extra bonus.

Nice message at the end Dianne and so true.

Great Mother's Day post. Siblings do cause mother a lot of grief. My daughter and middle son fought their way to adulthood but now are the best of friends.
I think you captured some of the love as well as the pain.

Great wordzzle...haven't read them in ages...even longer since I've done one. I've really gotten out of the blog habit. Don't know what I'm doing with the extra time!?!

Anyway, I think of you often, even if I'm not "here" much!

Fabulous and I am sure almost every mother in the world has said those words 'and a plane ticket to ...'

I liked your story. Sisters can get into some pretty good disagreements, and it was very true to life. The mother managed to fix things, though. Mothers are good at that.
