He Was Fun And She Was Constant

Seeing Jeff Bridges at the Golden Globe and SAG awards renewed my love for him. He looked so sexy and comfortable in his skin.

He just gets better as he gets older.

I love his body language. his voice. his slow smile.
I love the way his eyes twinkle when he laughs.
I love how deep his laugh is.
I love the way he always touches his wife’s arm or shoulder or back as they do the red carpet thing.
I love …

Well, you get the point.

Then I read THIS ARTICLE and loved him even more.

Backstage at the SAG awards when asked about having daughters ...

"My wife did such a wonderful job, but like my dad, I was gone for a lot of the time. I love my girls very much, and my wife has raised them beautifully. Sue, why don't you come out here for a second?

"Ladies and gentleman," he said, "Sue!"

And he didn't leave her out on a limb: "The question is about raising daughters -- what did you do?," he asked, his arm around her under the spotlights. "I said most of the time you were there. I did my bit... "

"He was fun," said Sue, "and I was constant."

In the midst of all the Tiger Woods, Charlie Sheen, John Edwards blather I would much rather read about Jeff and Sue.

Look! He has the face he grew into ...

Face lifts give me the creeps.

Aren't they pretty together? Married since 1977.

Aren't they all pretty together?

He seems to enjoy his fans

I know I enjoy him.

EDIT: In a fun stroke of coincidence the illustrious, effervesent, all around wonderful OLD OLD LADY OF THE HILLS also posted about Jeff. Check it out.

Oh, Dianne...you and have the same tasted in people. I too love Jeff Bridges. There's something in his acting that allows for HIMSELF to shine through his performances and I've always like what I see.

Did you ever see the movie "Fearless?" He was wonderful in it. Rosie Perez was also wonderful. I love her.

I think you said it perfectly...

...he looks comfortable in his skin.

And that's so rare in Hollywood.

Thank you for sharing this post because I had no idea what his daughters and wife looked like. They're beautiful!

That's a great shot with his fans!

Hope you had a great day, dear lady!

X ya!

It's wonderful to admire people who behave admirably.

I don't know Jeff Bridges but enjoyed your post, and especially the part about "he was fun, I was constant." Makes you wonder why some men can become famous and still remain faithful nto their wives and others can't seem to manage that.

I've always loved Jeff Bridges too.

And you know what project he's getting ready to start?

He's going to play Rooster Cogburn in the Coen Bros. remake of "True Grit." He's gonna be awesome.

I missed his acceptance speech that night so I'm really glad you linked to it here. He's a sweetie, alright.

I really enjoyed this post. I don't know that much about Jeff Bridges, remembering more when he was much younger. I loved how he credited his wife, and her response was wonderful.

I would have to agree with you whole heartedly...I think he is very sexy..I think it is sexy how much he adores his wife and being a dad...he knows what is important in life...yes it's far more enjoyable reading stories like this than Tiger Woods et al....

I’ve never known much about his personal life, I guess he stays out of the spotlight more than most. The picture that you painted though is really sweet.

The Dude in The Big Lebowski was one of the best performances in one of the greatest movies of all time!

Great minds think alike, my dear. My post is about Jeff Bridges, too...though more about him as an actor as well as a lovely wonderful Human Being!

Isn't Sue pretty? And their daughters, too....there is one more daughter--I hope they all will ALL be at The Oscars! The only thing that is a bit sad is that his Momma died in this last year and so she wasn't here to see him 'win' all these wonderful Awards....

I never thought about it until you brought it up, but he does have that certain "je ne sais quoi", doesn't he?

I love when actors or any other celebrities manage to stay together and can live something of an ordinary life, without scandals and without the need of bringing attention to themselves at all times.;)
Lovely post.
Thank you so much for your kind visit and a kind comment as well, it is much appreciated.

Terrific actor...and obviously a terrific husband and father...

I liked his dad also and I think he was also a good family man...it is all how you are raised

You have great taste, Dianne. I'm a long-time fan of Jeff Bridges. (The Big Lebowski is a huge favourite of mine.)

As good an actor as he is, and as varied as the characters he's played are - he always somehow manages to be himself. Jimmy Stewart was like that too. And Paul Newman.

I'm very happy to see him finally getting his hands on some statuary. Hope it holds true at Oscar time too.

I was lucky enough to have seen Crazy Heart and I highly recommend it .. Jeff and the rest of the cast (except Bobby Duval, who was a producer and seems to have improv'd all his scenes)were super

I have always liked the Bridges boys, and their dad. They are the kind of people whom we need to read about - not the idiots who are always in trouble.

I came looking for your parise or rant on Obama's talk and I got Jeff Bridges. That was actually very nice. I picture is great where he is looking at his wife. The admiration seems to be real - I hope he's not acting.
Nice job!

Isn't he wonderful? :) It seems like a true partnership between him and his wife and that is lovely to see, and very refreshing too.

I hope you feel better now - I always read back to see what I missed and thta tummy demon sounds awful!

I have always liked him too! He always took roles that were .... wholesome.

(doesn't he look a bit like Kris Kristofferson? Never in there younger years - but as older men? I think so!)

Linda said...

I'm with Melli - I thought he bore a striking resemblance to Kris Kritofferson at the awards.

I have loved the guy since "Starman" which remains one of my favorite movies to this day.

Thank you for giving us some endearing qualities and love from Hollywood for a change!

I love Jeff Bridges and I blogged about two of his movie rolls about a month back. All this stuff about his family, however, I didn't know. I agree, it makes me like him even more.

He has new film out - Crazy Heart. I haven't seen it yet but it's nice to know the work is coming to him; he deserves it.

Loved this post, Dianne, perhaps because I too love Jeff Bridges! He's so down to earth and his reverence for his family is so refreshing!

So true, he just gets better! My last images of him are those in the Fisher King with Robin Williams and in The Big Lebowski. Recently, came across this hilarious film called "How To Lose Friends and Alienate People" in which he stars as the boss. He oozes sexy in that film. If you have the chance, Dianne, I highly recommend it!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, and give Hope a big hug! :))

He's one of the few incredibly cool men that haven't lost their heart in the sea of plastic fantastic that is Hollywierd.
I can't wait to see Crazy Heart...I already bought the CD as soon as I saw the first interview he did about the movie...and I love love love it. It's rare for me to buy CD's, but this one I had to have...yup...I already know all the words to all of the songs.
Have a great weekend girl!

Hey Dianne, I hope you are feeling better by now. That Hope is soooooo cute, she couldn't have been the guilty one to give you the crude!
You know, I have a feeling that I am in the minority here. Jeff Bridges doesn't do a thing for me. Not even in his skin.
Thanks for checking on me, I appreciate that a lot. I drove all over town and parts of Houston today running errands so I'm okay, huh?
..
BTW, I will post my skin for tomorrow's Six Word Saturday. You don't have to croon though, I am married.

I've always liked him too. He has a very soothing voice and yes, a definite twinkle in his eye.

I am posting that picture we emailed about right before the Super Bowl.

Have a great weekend!

Ooh, yeah Jeff Bridges... I should have added him to my post today. He's definitely sexy... and getting sexier with age, too. Sounds like a pretty good guy... not too many of them around.

The sad thing is that because they don't screw up their lives, we don't get to read about them. That is so wrong.
I was going to ask if you had read OOLOH's blog.
Always loved the Bridges guys.
