The Cadaver Speaks Again

In late 2009 I did  this post  about how Karl Lagerfeld was "disgusted" by curvy women and was planning to fight any effort to include them in fashion shows.

Over 2 years later and Karl continues to forget to just lie down and shut the fuck up.

In a recent interview he discussed today's music scene; given that he knows nothing about music Karl decided to call Adele "too fat" and wonder out loud about what body parts of newcomer Lana Del Rey might be fake or enhanced. Two exceptionally talented young women - both in their early 20s - being discussed like so many pounds of chopped meat.

I really hate this sorry skeletal sac of ...

He's creative director for Chanel. From everything I have ever read about Coco Chanel I'm assuming that Lagerfeld would, at best, annoy her.

Adele responded to Lagerfeld's insults ...

I don’t make music for eyes, I make music for ears.

I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that.

I'm really looking forward to Adele's performance at this Sunday's Grammys. Her first since throat surgery 6 months ago.

As for Karl - I wonder how much he hates himself. I wonder if once being fat turned him into the dark shadow he is today.

 He looks happier fat

Apparently fat Karl worked tirelessly to get cotton balls the right to legally marry

Just as I was about to publish I read that Lagerfeld has apologized. Bullshit. Just like the Republican candidates he says what he means, reveals his true self and then tries to weasel out.

People like him encourage poor eating habits in young people. I wish designers would design clothes for real people, not the sticks that parade up and down the cat walk. Now that would test their ability.

Amen!

And you already know how I feel about models on the cover of fashion magazines - they're not even REAL.

You're absolutely right, Dianne! I worked for Chanel for 6 years when I lived in Florida. He's taken something that was at one time exclusively classic, and turned it into commercial trash.

Faaaaaaaabulous post, dear lady!

X ya!

Adele has more talent than Karl ever will. She brings affordable, realistic beauty to the world with her voice, mind and spirit.

Karl brings uber-expensive crap for the silly rich and displays his ingnorance with every word.

I'm with I'm with Stupid...he's a very sad pathetic man...anyone who has so much criticism for others is an unhappy miserable jerk! Regarding Adele...now THAT is one talented lady!

Karl looks like he's already dead. The undertaker won't have to do anything to him.

Yup, that about sums it up. Good for Adele, my fellow fatso. Hahahaha!

Did Steven Tyler age 700 years and lose 50 pounds?? And get into tuxedo bondage? What is UP with his OUTFIT? He designs clothes for real?? Like, people pay him actual AMERICAN dollars??

I know nothing about this Adele chick but she looks normal (ok, dressed up "normal," but she is a star) and she sounds normal, too. :)

She's beautiful, he's not. Adele is a great role model, and I admire her for that.

There's no excuse for this idiot.

I just think he's gross.

Fashion should be for all and if they can't make something for people with curves than they aren't good at their so called craft.

To heck with Karl. Some people have some very unhealthy obsessions. And don't forget that both Republicans and Democrats talk out of both sides of their mouths.

You know how you can tell when a politician is lying, don't you? ;-)

Omg. One of the Undead is designing clothes! I'm crackin up at the comments.

Adele is so cool. She said she'd rather weigh a ton and make a fantastic album than to look like Nicole Richie and make a crap album. (I think she said Nicole Richie...I don't even know who that is). Besides that, I think Adele looks just fine! And her music, mercy, that girl has soul to spare.

He may have deflated his body, but his ego is inflated to the point of bursting. Does anyone really care what he thinks?

I never even heard of these people. Can I go back to before? When they didn't exist in my universe? :-)

Just to let you know...I chose to "put down" Micky-T, here in the tubes. I'll be speaking for him from now on.

He's still a fat unhappy man in a slimmer body ...

WEll this is totally out of my league but sure sounds like you don't like that guy and sure have good reason. Take care.

At least fat he looks like a human. They (designers) want their models to be thin and shapeless, so they remind them of the little boys they want to f%@k but are too old to get.

Sounds to me like he probably says anything he thinks will get him some publicity and doesn't care who he hurts along the way.

And that sounds like the definition of a DICK!

He should be ashamed. Women everywhere in the West are under considerable pressure to conform to Size 0 and the fault lies squarely and his feet, and others like him in the fashion industry. It strikes me that he doesn't love women but must hate them instead.

Excellent rant. I like a good ranter, particularly when I'm in full agreement.

I'm going to follow, feel like doing the same?

Beautiful Adele. She's got it all. Class. Talent. True beauty inside and out. He's a sad, little man.

Granny Annie said...

Adele is a class act. Lagerfeld is another misguided male who thinks we give a darn about his opinion.

Ellen Whyte said...

Who cares what he thinks? If he wants to talk about his work, fine. But his view of the world is of no interest whatsoever.

Now MY point of view is of course amazing, wonderful, insightful, thought provoking and extraordinarily awesome always.

LOVE what Adele said in response. She's young, vibrant and authentic. He looks like a creepy old man.
Bwahaha... cotton balls!

Perfect! My mom and I often argued about this sort of thing. She was hypercritical of appearances, like you were supposed to pass some sort of looks test before they'd let you on TV. Melissa Manchester is the one I remember most. Mom heard one of her songs on the radio and was all excited to see her a months or so later on Merv Griffin or Mike Douglas or some such. Then when she saw what Melissa looked like and one of her nostrils was a millimeter smaller than the other or whatever it was Mom didn't like, Mom decided she didn't like Melissa's voice anymore either. I remember getting really annoyed and asking Mom if she'd be happier if we ditched the tube and went back to listening to the radio like they did in the 1920s when she was young -- as you might imagine, that didn't go over terribly well.
