Many of you have probably heard about this by now but I wanted to post some good stuff with a touch of cute thrown in. Of course there's always another Hope post but her birthday is next week so you'll get plenty of her then.
This is Bear
He lives with his family in Michigan.
Bear's human baby brother strayed away from Mom for all of a moment and fell into the pool.
The baby's Mom immediately realized her son wasn't next to her and rushed out to the yard to find him floating face up in the pool. His lips were blue and he appeared unconscious.
As she pulled him out of the pool she discovered that the reason he was floating is that Bear was under him, balancing the little boy on his back and keeping him afloat.
Good job Bear
If you don't spend much time around small children it's easy to wonder how this can happen and to perhaps even judge. It does sometimes boil down to a split second.
The little boy is Stanley and after a trip to the emergency fire station and a follow-up at the hospital he's fine.
You can read the entire story HERE and see a short video of Mom talking about Bear

No, Dianne, I had not heard this story so thank you for sharing it!
AMAZING!
I watched the video clip of the mother talking about Bear and it brought tears to my eyes. It never ceases to amaze me how intelligent, protective, caring and loving animals are to us humans.
Bravo Bear!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone with kids or grandkids can understand this "split-second" stuff. Good Bear is right!
Having had four children very close together -- well, they're not children anymore by a long shot, but I do remember what it was like trying to keep an eye on all of them, all of the time! I surely could have used a Bear back then! What a wonderful story and what a wonderful dog! Have a great weekend, Dianne! Hugs to Hope!

It only takes a matter of seconds for a child to go from being safe to not. I know with my 2 daughters. We could all do with a Bear around.
Dogs like Bear are amazing. I decided not to read the entire story because I'm already teary-eyed from reading what you have written here.
Looking forward to photos of Hope's birthday.

My aunt had a Collie that used to drive her daughter nuts because she would not let her go out of the yard. That dog was so protective that it was just wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Molly and I are off to get toenails trimmed this afternoon.
Thank you, bear! The photo seems to show a fence around the pool, but the article says they PLAN to put a fence around the pool. I would certainly hope so, and then lock the gate for god's sake!
Wow! I'm speechless.
WOW! Yes. It takes only a second. And poor Bear, what a good dog.
Great story.
Dogs like Bear are awesome :-)
Yeah, I read about that amazing dog. Truly, man's best friend! ...and that's coming from a cat person.
What a good boy you are Bear. I had heard this story somewhere on the news. That is so amazing. Animals are just the greatest. Take care.
Oh my, what a wonderful story, Bear is amazing! Take your eyes off a child for a millisecond and anything can happen, I know from experience. Thank goodness the little boy is OK.
What a good boy, indeed ... this is why i often prefer animals to humans .. and I am sure if Bear could have kept him afloat AND called for help, he would

wow. dogs are just amazing creatures.
This made me all sniffly, what a wonderful story! I'm so glad the babe is okay. I need to go hug someone.
Retrievers have a special place in my heart.
He's a wonderful pooch. I'd like to laws in place about adequate fencing around pools with gate latches placed high. There are just far too many toddler drownings each year. Everyone should be as lucky as this family to have such an incredible dog.
Did not hear this story yet. But does not surprise me that a dog is a hero :) Makes me all teared up though.
Hugs from Ohio,
I.
Back in the 1950's, I saved my Godson fromn drowning in the pool because his mother looked away and I, luckily, was looking towards him...A running leap into the water and a grab of this sweet little one, averted disaster. A slpit second, indeed!
Wow... I've got goosebumps! Way to go Bear - you're an amazing dog!
Go Bear! What an amazing and delightful (and scary) story. We had a pool at our old house in Ocala and I always worried that someone would fall in the thing and drown even though our yard was fenced. Can't be too careful. Bear is a true hero!
Good for Bear! Nice feelgood story for a Monday morning :-)
An amazing dog story! Glad all is okay.
What a good dog, Bear! So nice to see that the story had a very happy ending!
And yes, things do sometimes happen in a split second no matter how many precautions that we take.
I read about this and thought, for not the first time, that dogs are really angels. What an absolutely amazing thing!
