Siren Is In Love

For those of you who know Siren's story this is an exceptional statement. The neglected/abused/thrown away cat of 9 years ago who had to be sequestered, handled carefully, sedated for vet appointments is in love. The cat who would not be carried or cuddled. The cat who would only stand on my lap for fleeting moments. That cat is in love.

With me.

All day long. Everyday. Treats or no treats. Hungry or full. Sleepy or frisky.

His main moves are pretty predictable

He circles wherever I might be

Finds a spot to watch me

The sofa is his favorite spot, especially if I'm on the laptop

He establishes contact

Let's me know he won't be moved

And then he attaches himself

If any of these shots are less than stellar it's because I was using the camera with my left hand while trying to keep Siren from grabbing it while making sure he didn't push the laptop off.

He loves me but he's still Siren

I have watched Siren mellow over the years but have never seen such huge changes over a short period of time. I'm guessing it's because of his health issues and that I'm the one who puts her hands into the carrier and nuzzles him at the vet no matter how much he hisses and growls and snaps.

Oh Dianne, what a sweet and touching pictorial post!

"That cat is in love.

With me."

Of course he is, who wouldn't be?

(((( You ))))

Siren sounds a lot like my previous cat, Jerry, because he was always with me. He would actually sit on the toilet lid in the bathroom and watch me shave my face in the morning.

Love that last shot of Siren next to your hand. It speaks volumes!

X ya, dear lady!

How wonderful. I am so glad that you and Siren are finally bonding. What a beautiful face on the "Lets me know he won't be moved." picture. The love from a cat passeth all undrstanding.

Cats are so independent, picky about who they love, but when they do it's like no one else! Good for Siren and good for you - you've passed the test!! Enjoy your day! Hugs to Hope and you and Siren!!

I love, love, LOVE this post. Siren is a very lucky cat in the end, after all that trauma. I am so glad to learn he's finally feeling safe and secure.

Sedated by the vet? Hey Siren, do you share your drugs?

It is priceless how you have won Siren's love and trust.

There's nothing like having the unquestioning trust of an animal. Having had the same cat for the last 14 years, I can't imagine going a single night without her spooning with me on the couch and ushering the wife and me up to bed at our appropriate times.

Great pics!!

Siren loves the hand that soothes him.
We've noticed similar changes in Josy. She really misses us when we have to leave her, and hovers when we return. While she doesn't like to be picked up, she seems to like her morning hug on my shoulder. Just not too long.

Siren knows you love him too.

Siren reminds me so much of my Sheena girl with his behavior. Her motto was, "I will sit by you, but don't touch me." Not surprisingly, she had her share of abandonment experiences, etc. before she came into my life. Hope Siren's feeling better.

It may have taken him a long time, but you will be the recipient of much devotion for the rest of Siren's life. I'm so happy for both of you.

Oh this brought tears to my eyes as we had a cat who had been abused and never affectionate until he got sick....yes they love us on their own terms..but don't we all.. Michelle

or maybe its something in the air because since Jack came back from vet (dental surgery) he's been so mellow that he allows petting/holding everywhere not just while in the kitchen (where he'd permit all manner of personal space intrusion because it might get him more food) .. the best part of his new personality is that he no longer flinches when you reach out to pet him .. YEA!!!!!!

You've proved reliable and now he's given you his heart. And the occasional sharp claw when you have the temerity to move without purrmission :-)

That is truly wonderful. It can take a long time sometimes to trust enough to finally show love.

I adored this post. Sending warm thoughts for you Siren and the other Kitty.

I have a personal update up at my blog.

Take good care.

Siren is in love because Siren finally found someone worthy of his love who loves him back.

And that's all I think any of us really want when you get right down to it.

Animals respond to those who care for them, particularly when they (the animals) are unwell. Siren is beautiful and he knows you love him.
