Her children are teachers and lawyers and Joey became a Senator and a Vice-President. When Joe Biden first decided to run for the Senate Jean told him she hoped it "didn't ruin" his reputation.
Joe Biden recalls many wonderful moments of his mother's life in his book 'Promises To Keep'.
My favorite anecdote is how Mrs. Biden told a nun she would "rip off your bonnet" if the nun ever again mocked Joe because of his stutter. As a victim of the vicious nuns who should never be teachers that populate the Catholic school system I really appreciated that. Imagine how daring and brave that was some 50 years ago.
