So I thought I'd step away from the stress of my day to day life to delve into a bit of politics.
Oh wait ...
I have to share my feelings about this ...
Anyone who claims to not understand why this is racially motivated is a moron or a liar. Anyone who doesn't understand the history of comparing black people to monkeys needs to read a bit more - and quick, before the Texans change all the books.
I don't know where this photo originated but it was forwarded all over the country by a Tea Party chairwoman from Orange County, CA. The text - "now we know why he can't produce a birth certificate" was also included.
A large segment of this country has lost its collective fucking mind because they have a black President with a "funny" name.
Some asshole on O'Reilly suggested President Obama be given a math test to prove he understand numbers since this prick doesn't like the President's budget.
And if anyone is going to say to me that Bush was mocked by us liberal progressives my first answer would be - not this way. Never with filth and prejudice and ignorance. We simply didn't want a dumb puppet letting Cheney and Co. spit in the face of the Constitution.
Racism is vile. It damages people. It tears society apart.
The very next person who tells me the Tea Party is not a racist organization can kiss my white ass.
And then there's ...
This bloated piece of crap who spends most of his time ogling young women in swimsuits told GMA that he has a team of investigators working on President Obama's birth certificate. What are they doing? Destroying it?
This loser wants to run America like he does his self-proclaimed successful empire? Really. He has filed for bankruptcy more times than he's bellowed "You're Fired", he couldn't even keep a casino afloat. A casino!
Of course he'd swear I'm wrong and then call me a dozen disgusting names but this guy has cooked more books than Todd Palin has cooked meth.
And that Bill O'Reilly is my No Spin Zone.

Dear Alaskan Wolves
Hey there wolves. I noticed you wander about a lot ...
Not that I blame you; what with the need for food and shelter. So I got to thinking.
While wandering, would you do me a favor? I'd like you to look out for this creature ...
No, not the beautiful caribou now dead after being tortured and laughed over. The evil piece of trash that killed the caribou. That one. You may not recognize her in this shot - what with the fake frontier terrorist outfit on.
She usually looks more like this. Bat shit fucking crazy ...
If you could give her a taste of her own medicine I'd be forever in your debt. I'm already sending as much as I can to NRDC and WWF. I'll try to do more.
Here's a few more clues:
She likes a fair fight. Ya know - machine guns from a helicopter. I'm sure you've run and hidden from her ...
She drags her brood about with her surrounded by press who responded to hertwat tweet telling them where she was and begging them to leave her children alone.
Her Big Papa is a wily one. He likes to look like a sports star ...
and then sometimes he makes believe he loves America by wearing a red tie and having a flag follow him around ...
You may remember that he led the charge to have Alaska leave the US. Probably so he could kill more without regulations. Not to mention the meth labs and prostitutes.
Oh - one last thing. Your former part time quit as soon as the money got big Governor has another crazy woman with her, also surrounded by children she's protecting from public scrutiny ...
Would you believe they're shooting guns together!?
Thank you dear wolves for your attention to this matter. Give the caribou my condolences.
Be careful out there.

Post Mid-Term Election - Two Small Comforts
I don’t post much about politics anymore. My own personal life is full of so much stress right now that I prefer to come here to share cats and kids and silly stories. That said I do need to make a few comments about the mid-term election results.
The whole fucking system is broken.
Far too many Americans have misplaced anger.
I’ll share two small comforts …
My progressive thinking Congressman held his seat. It was a disgusting campaign on the part of his opponent. In the last two weeks of the campaign I received a flyer a day declaring “Democrats foster abortion paid for with your tax dollars” – “Democrats will destroy the family” – “Our older citizens will die in poverty thanks to ObamaCare”. She’s a little known community activist (isn’t that ironic) who became mayor of one of our county’s smallest towns and then managed to win the Republican primary by screaming Tea Party at the top of her lungs and riding around in a van that declared all Democrats to be Socialists and that Socialism led to Communism. Isn’t she clever?
Her campaign headquarters were located inside a casino, her meetings were held at gun clubs and her volunteers were referred to as “my little army”.
Class all the way.
I hope she gets her army to clean up all the signs she posted on every single patch of green she could find.
My second small comfort is that another Cuomo is Governor of my home state. A racist lunatic was defeated. One of my most favorite campaign sound bites came out of this race – “Anger is not a governing strategy”.
So on we plod to 2012 when any Mayan will tell you we’re all gonna die anyway.
Here’s to hoping some of these angry Americans will heed what Jon Stewart recently said – “these are hard times, not end times”
if you'd like to know more - my Congressman is Frank Pallone and the woman he defeated is Anna Little

What I Think It's All About

I’ve been trying to understand the varying opinions on healthcare reform.
I’ve been trying to see things from the perspective of others.
Ever since Hope (my grand daughter) was born I have been on a journey to be a more balanced, calmer person. I think we owe our (grand) children the gift of being thinkers, the peace of being empathetic, the joy of seeing the good in life.
I also think we owe them the courage to speak up when things are terribly wrong.
There are those who are afraid of the money being spent. I get that. Every year the price of necessities go up. Property taxes go up. And usually while salaries shrink. While jobs disappear.
I would like to know where this concern was when we invaded Iraq. When we started a war that has cost nearly 975 billion dollars – see COST OF WAR.COM
And let’s not forget the thousands and thousands dead. And the multitudes injured and crippled and maimed, whose lives are altered forever.
As for the concern about increased income tax. If you make more than a quarter of a million dollars a year and you’re going to bitch about an increase you can kiss my ass. You’ve most likely been reaping the benefits of tax loopholes and the Republican love for gifting the rich so pay up now. Plus you’ll just find a new way to screw the system, so don’t be such pissy whiners.
If you are a small business with 51+ workers and you don’t insure them you’re a piece of crap to begin with. I owned a small business. I cut back on office space. I took less of a salary. I spent less and worked more to insure my staff. That’s what a responsible employer and a good American is supposed to do.
If you fire people to be under the 51 count you should be legally bound to prove a down turn in business caused those layoffs. If you fired a person for cause then you should hire a replacement.
If you fire people to get around insuring them you are scum and you shouldn’t have a small business. You’re truly ready to be on Wall Street.
Then there are those who are worried about a loss of personal freedom. I heard this morning that several states will be suing the federal government claiming that healthcare reform impedes state rights and individual freedom. Back when I had health insurance – for the reasonable and affordable cost of $1200 a month – I had to call before I went to an ER. I had to change meds whenever the insurance company put out a new list of drugs they had decided wasn’t necessary.
When my ankle tore and I couldn’t walk my doctor spent over an hour on the phone explaining why I needed an MRI. They asked if I could stand – he tried to explain that I could only stand if I was leaning on something. He was told to just answer the question. He was asked if I could walk. He had to scream and threaten. His assistant had to fax volumes of pages. I had to wait over a week to get the MRI.
Then the fight for an orthopedic evaluation started. While that fight was going on with a health insurance company I was losing the battle with a disability insurance company.
So what happened – the disability money didn’t come. It was the mortgage or the health insurance premium. The health insurance was cancelled. Then the disability folks said that without an orthopedic evaluation I couldn’t be disabled.
If that isn’t a loss of personal freedom I don’t know what is.
Let’s get behind suing insurance companies.
And then there are the tea baggers. The far right. The fringe that gets so much press.
This is about ignorance. This is about racism. This is about religious zealotry and intolerance. Not since the America of the pre civil rights movement have I seen such hatred and outlandish behavior.
If a white President was reforming healthcare no way would there be this much of a storm.
And if every decent American isn’t concerned about that then we are in big trouble.
I found THIS compilation of protest slogans and signs. There are claims that FOX won’t/didn’t show most of these since they are so offensive. There are even stories of news outlets photo shopping the signs to make them less offensive. I can’t find outright proof but I sure as hell believe it.
Blacks. Muslims. Kenyans. Jews. Women. All insulted with the use of pithy little sayings. Parents having their children show words they shoudn't even hear or see.
I couldn’t figure out what some of the signs meant since the spelling was so bad. Here’s a little advice – if you’re going to advertise your views on national TV then get a dictionary. If you have already burned your dictionary then check the Bible. It has words in it. Read it, find the words you need and copy them.
And last but not least – Google what a tea bagger really is. For goodness sake you filthy, pathetic, disgusting, ignorant pieces of trash. Look it up!
And then get your testicles off the face of America.
